4 weeks to go....

4 weeks to go until we leave for our latest adventure. This time we are visiting Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt and Jordan, we will be gone for 6 weeks and we can’t wait!!.

This holiday has taken longer to plan, because Brianna and Sophie are coming with us, and tour companies don’t believe children less than 12 years of age can behave. So we’ve had to arrange private guides and tours everywhere.

Our itinerary is as planned:

• Depart Brisbane 6/09/08 at 1300hrs and arrive in Singapore at 1900hrs. (8hrs Flying time)
• Depart Singapore 06/09/08 at 2000 and arrive in Abu Dhabi 2330hrs (7hrs flying time plus 6 hrs time difference).
• Depart Abu Dhabi 07/09/08 at 0130hrs arrive Dubai at 0300hrs (1 ½ hours on a bus).

Note:
Long flight + adjusting to time difference + 2 children = 2 parents with short fuses.

• Monday 8/09/08, depart Dubai at 1000hrs and arrive in Nairobi, Kenya at 1400hrs.

Depending on time and how we are all feeling we might go and have a look around Nairobi.


Tanzania Section:

• Tuesday 09/09/08, catch a bus at 0800 and travel to Arusha, Tanzania (take approx 6hrs).
Once in Tanzania we will meet the guide who will be taking us for our 11 day safari, we are visiting.
• Tarangire National park
• Lake Manyara National Park
• Serengeti National Park
• Ngorongoro Crater
We will be lots of exciting and interesting things, obviously game drives, but also visiting schools, going for walks with armed guards (they had better have bullets in the guns), we also get to go hunting with real bow and arrows with a tribe.

• Friday 19/09/08 we catch the 1400hr bus back to Nairobi.


Kenya Section:

The next day we start a 4 day safari with Okumu on this safari we will visit:
• Masai Mara
• Crescent Island- for those who didn’t see it on Getaway it is an Island where Giraffes, Wildebeests, Zebra’s and other animals run free and have no fear of humans, how close you get to the animals is dependent on how brave you are.
• Lake Nakuru

Once back in Nairobi we are having lunch and the girls are doing afternoon lessons in a local school.

• Wednesday 24/09/08 we depart Nairobi at 0500hrs and arrive in Cairo at 0900hrs


Egypt Section:

We are spending 17 days seeing Egypt and Jordan.

• 5 days in Cairo
• 4 day cruise( use this very loosely) up the Nile from Aswan to Luxor
• Hurghada
• St Catherine - we climb Mt Sinai at 0200hrs to watch the sun rise

Jordan Section:

• Petra (watch Indiana Jones)
• Amman

Friday 10th October depart Amman at1600hrs and arrive Abu Dhabi 2100hrs
Catch bus at Abu Dhabi 2230hrs and arrive Dubai at 2400hrs

We are staying at a place in Dubai called Atlantis The Palm (look it up on the net).
