Fraser island is the biggest sand island in the world, with a 75 mile stretch of unbroken beach perfect for cruising along in a 4x4. We did a 3 day, 2 night tag-along tour, camping under the stars and driving at high speeds along the flat beach and hanging onto our seats as we got flung around the car on the bumpy sand tracks.

Here's a quick summary of the trip:

- importance of alcohol

- the initial briefing gave us no information on what we would be doing or what we needed, apart from highlighting the importance of alcohol

- james a.k.a. more money than sense

- decided he didnt need any clothes apart from one pair of shorts, but did need a watermelon, a cheeseboard platter, 2 bottles of tequila, and about $2000 worth of gadgets

- march flies extermination service

- aim, swat, stamp....team effort!

- Bbqs on the beach -

embracing aussie culture and making sure we were the best fed campers on the island. Purchasing 24 seeded bread rolls at the time seemed ludicrous but turned out to be necessary.

- Everything tasting of peanut or salt and vinegar

...especially the salt and vinegar peanuts - a combination of salt and vinegar crisps, salt and vingar peanuts and peanut butter turned out to be too much!

- Dingo watch

- not to be confused with nice looking dogs, Australia's purest strain of dingo kept close eye on our camp at night. Luckily we had Geoff with his spotlight and dingo stick to keep them at bay.

- Lake Wabby

- Tom took advantage of the big sand dune leading down to the lake deciding rolling down was the quickest way to get to the water.

- Eurong

- the place where your never right

- Eli Creek a.k.a. the lazy river

- the islands natural water park and best hangover cure available with its clear ice cold water to lazily float from one end to the other.

- "Too easy" - Geoff's favourite quote

- Champagne pools - would have been nicer if it didnt rain but we plunged in anyway

- Maheno wreck - fraser islands most famous landmark

- The three Canadians Pissheads and their drinking games
- ginger ale and bacardi - worst drink ever!
- would you rather...
- goon dodgeball, flip cup, beer pong
- 5 boxes of goon, 1 bottle of bacardi, 1 bottle of bourbon and a crate of beers for 2 days

- the lagoon/puddle on the beach

- we were slightly let down when we saw the "lagoon" Geoff had promised us, but climbed to the top pf a sanddune and made our own fun!

- The beast

- each group adopted a name for their jeep, ours being the biggest amd most badass pretty muh named itself

- Digging your own toilet on the beach

- no toilets on camp lead to desperate measures, all you need is a shovel and a dingo stick amd your sorted!

- Washing our hair and brushing our teeth in Lake Mckenzie

- we still aren't sure if this was hoax or whether the silica sand did actually revitalise our roots and give us silky smooth teeth

- Ultimate Frisbee champions

- Tom managed to seal the game in a golden point showdown with what seemed an almost impossible catch. In what appeared to be slow motion, while everyone held their breath, he dived with an outstretched arm and rose from the sand with frisbee held above his head.

- The stars

- The entire milky way was visible due to almost zero light pollution on the island. The entire group took a break from beer pong in order to admire and wonder at the beautiful sky.

- The army of crabs

- As we were leaving the island we witnessed hundreds of little crabs crawling up the beach in an organised formation as if they were attacking each other.

- Napping

- Rach decided to take a quick nap on the boat on the way back to the mainland and managed to cover Tom's backpack in drool. ..Noone thought it was physically possible to produce that amount.

- BBQ feast

- Back in Hervey bay we worked up a mean appetite and managed to devour an entire kangaroo. ..luckily we had some honey bbq sauce that had been used to flavour so many meats!
