A new chapter is about to begin...

We have landed two jobs. The first one is near Darwin. More specifically, a town called Batchelor, which is the gateway to Litchfield National Park. It is working at a resort and butterfly farm. We will be doing reception, reservations, kitchen and bar work. All food and accommodations is provided. And best of all, it counts as regional work towards my second year visa! 😊 Here are some links to check out the resort and the park:

The second job, is working at a secluded resort on a small island in Malaysia. Yes, for real. Mainly doing barwork. Again, food and accommodations is included, but the pay is very minimal. It appears to be a great and unique experience, but the downside is that it would use up almost my entire first year Australian visa (as they would like us to stay until December). It would also mean no chance to earn my second year, and a struggle to even save for a flight home. Yikes. Anyway, check it out:

So now that you have seen both, what would you choose? Well, we chose the first option. It is on track to the path we were planning to travel anyway. We are planning to head north and then do the west coast after that. This will be my 3rd state in Australia since I have been here, 3 more and 1 territory to go! Not to mention, dad is planning on coming for a visit at the end of April or beginning of May, and it means we can take some interesting roads less travelled and head to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and such. 😊

I have to tell you, I am more than ready to leave Cloncurry. It has been an interesting experience, but I can't imagine almost 2 more months of this place. The owners are eccentric to put it nicely. To be blunt, the old lady, Mrs. T is absolutely crazy, and her son Gregor, is a chauvinistic jerk. Between them, the violence that has gone on since we've been here and the lack of anything to do, we are ready to go.

Another bit of happy news is that we will be making a 3 day pit stop in Brisbane. I am pretty excited about that, because we get to see the people we left behind for a few days and have a good time before heading out into the unknown again. It's pretty silly though, we are almost as close to the Northern Territory as you can get, but it's much, much cheaper to take a bus back to Brisbane and then catch a flight to Darwin from there. I guess that's what you get for being in the middle of nowhere. It's going to take a whole lot longer, but it's another little trip that will be a great time, so I'm not complaining.

We are also hoping to buy a car when we get to Darwin. Actually, ideally a campervan. We'll see though. It would be really nice to have something that doubles as a place to sleep as well. We would like to spend some time going to more parks and such once we hit the road and start traveling again. When you are taking Greyhound, it's next to impossible to see all the sights, because they are all off the beaten path.

Hmmmm, I feel like there must be more to tell you all, but am struggling to think of anything at the moment. So I will say goodbye for now and am looking forward to hearing from all of you soon.

xoxo
