Arrive in Cairns from Ayers Rock, and check into a YHA with a pool and spa area! Very civilised. Cairns is beautiful; has a lovely harbour, surrounded by rainforest, and great shops/bars. It also has a lagoon for swimming in on the edge of the ocean, as you can't swim in the ocean due to stingers (small but deadly jellyfish). In the evening the fruit bats come out in their thousands - an amazing experience.
