BUNDABERG
Cousin love... THE WESTBURYS Had 6 beautiful days in Bundaberg, lots of jobs to be done and catch up with cousins. Friday new windscreen in car, then to John's cousin's David and Selena for a BBQ dinner! John hasn't seen this cousin for over 50 years....and it was like we have known them all our lives....very easy to get along with and so hospitable! We had a ball with them and their son Jarred was home for a few days...he does FIFO in WA....a wonderful family! Saturday tour of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery which was great fun and a few free tastings after the tour, then I had to come back to the van to cook dinner to take over to Selina and David's......and a beautiful swim in their pool! Also caught up with David's sister Robyn as well which was fantastic! Tuesday service for the car and then to blood bank to give blood. On Sunday/Monday a drive out to Bargara which is totally beautiful and then around to Elliott Heads, such a nice area....we both loved it. The humidity has hit!!! Our last three days in Bundaberg were quite humid and sticky but no rain. Wednesday onto Hervey Bay to catch up with

A wonderful BBQ dinner, too busy talking to take pics... but these prawns were so delicious! friends Bruce and Heather down on the beach at Torquay another lovely spot at the Sea Bar! Then onto River Heads to see cousin Sheldon and his partner Sharon..... they have a lovely setup in the Turtle Cove Estate. Went down to the Barge at River Heads where the boats go out to Fraser Island, met a guy there who had been out on a jetski and his son on another and one broke down and they had to call Sea Rescue and were towed into the River Heads Barge area and then had to get an Uber to get his car which was about 3/4hr away to come back and load up the jet skis. The midgees are prolific here too...mongrel things! The countryside is quite dry around the Coral Coast but Thursday we arrived at John's brothers place, Craig, and not long after torrential rain....our first rain in four and a half months. It has rained in some form or another nearly every day of being here but it is badly needed and in between showers the sun is shining. Craig is at Teddington just south of Maryborough on acreage and such a gorgeous relaxing spot, 4 bedroom house
BUNDABERG RUM DISTILLERY
A great tour even if you don't like rum..... the girls doing our tour were very informative and so much fun and a flat for guests to stay in, we had our caravan so self sufficient but it was perfect for the Saturday when Dale and Paul, Shelley and Lloyd arrived up from Sunshine Coast and Newport.....plenty of room for us all and had a lovely catch up. Loved staying with family, so special and we are glad we took the detour to the coast to visit, it wasn't in our original plans, we were made feel super welcome and had a great time. Then Sunday cousin Lindsay and Gaye arrived from Inskip and Gloria's cousin Phil from Emerald came and stayed the night, what a fantastic night we had with this bunch...lots of laughs, stories and catching up once again..... this last few days have just been one continuous party, party! Gloria had never met her cousin Phil and we all had a ripper time with him! Such a beautiful person! After lots of late nights and early mornings in between John installing more solar on the van...it has been manic! We had a little sleep in on Tuesday! Solar panel installation is taking up basically all our time at Craig's in between happy hours, catch ups with family! Had

No visit to Bundaberg is complete without a visit to the Rum Factory a great day for Johns birthday and Janet made a delicious black forest cake in my thermomix....she wants to buy one and join the Thermo world. Exciting! So great for John being with his brother for his birthday, so a lovely dinner, garlic and chilli prawns (from cousin David's prawn boat), moussaka made with eggplant from Janets garden and then the cake.....such a nice time here with the brothers catchup, unfortunately they don't see a lot of each other! Thursday saw us say our goodbyes at Teddington and head to Caloundra for a lightening visit (2hr drive) , tyres on the car, lunch with Paul and Dale and then head west to Dalby going through Beerwah, Kilcoy, Blackbutt, Yarraman, Kaimkillebun, Dalby and then onto our camp at Kumbarilla..... we did good today....a big chunk under the belt.
