Marlo, East Victoria
Great free camping spot called Snowy River Rest Area. Nice view to wake up to in the morning After arriving back from Tassie, we stayed another week in Melbourne, Victoria and caught up with our friends Kerry, Amanda and Caatherine. I had my first gig at the Brunswick Hotel open mic night and played 3 songs I had written and one cover song. No there were no tomatoes or rotten egg throwing, I was lucky. We had a great time listening to other artists play guitar and sing. Also caught up with my brother, Marks friend Max at his quaint little bar on Little Collins St in Melbourne called Bar Humbug. This is worth a visit, a little European bar with a great selection of Australian wines and food. On departing the wonderful world of Melbourne with its wonderful shops, architecture and vibrancy it was time to hit the country road again. Travelling East from Melbourne through Moe, Sale, Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and staying our first night in Marlo, called the Snowy River Rest Area.....magic. We then travelled North via Orbost up to Bombala and then to Jindabyn where we stayed at the Discovery Caravan park for a couple of days, situated on the Jindabyn Lake. Here we saw the first snow shower in Thredbo and Kosciusko and navigated

This is Snowy River Country and you can tell its Autumn. The main street was lined with golden amber trees with their beautiful ever changing leaf colour from summer green to orange/yellow/brown hues. our way up to Charlotte's Pass to view Mt Kosciusko. Our plan was to climb this mountain by taking the chairlift from Thredbo and taking the 4-6 hour return walk. Alas it was 50km winds and 0 degrees and we were not prepared with the right cold climate gear. My $2.50 raincoat which looks more like glad wrap gone totally wrong, was not sufficient to say the least. With that in mind we decided to check out Mt Kosci from Charlotte's Pass via Perisher Valley, we lasted about 5 mins from the car to the lookout (400mts) and could'nt get back to the car quick enough.....man it was COLD. Ah well, I'm sure there will be other mountains to climb throughout our journey. From Jindabyne to Canberra (Canberra to have its own Blog) and up to Moss Vale caravan park for a couple of days to explore Berrimah. Berrimah was established in 1830's by Major Thomas Mitchell, it is a quaint little village with the most beautiful artisan shops, gourmet foods and french style provincial cafes and restaurants. There is also the Berrimah Correctional Centre, where I decided to press the bell on the large iron gates, I really thought
Bombala Snowy River Country
These geese frequently cross the main street, drivers must give way at all times. it was a tourist destination as an Asian tourist told me it was free to get in.....ha ha...I received a shock when the female warden open the door and told me there were up to 90 prisoners inside. Mmmmm that was slightly embarrassing but funny all the same :-). Travelling to Badgery Creek just outside Penrith, we stayed with my niece, Charmaine and partner Scott and their 3 gorgeous children. It was great to hangout and catch up with family. After our goodbyes headed to Sydney, to stay with my gorgeous girlfriend, Marion and Con and their 3 gorgeous boys. Only meaning to stay 5 days, it kind of stretched out to 10, which was fabulous. Caught up with all the Cass families which is always a delight (especially you Ross....I thought I would give you a mention:-)......Quentin finally met John and Fiz, my old friends who I have known since I was 16 years old; we also met their lovely children. We had a lovely dinner together at Danny's Seafood in La Perouse which was enjoyed by all. Enjoy the photos and dont forget to leave a message!!!
