needing a lttle help

i'm wondering if anyone can help me??
i'm leaving for london soon just for a holiday, but if i like it i was going to stay longer. i am eligable for duel citizenship because my mother is british. Can i apply for it while i'm over there??
and how long does it take??? and am i able to work over then once i have it..

i just didn't want to pay all that money before i leave just in case i wasnt going to stay that long..
i hope someone can help me
