Chilling with Bart on the rocks
Tue 26th Oct

The title will be explained all in time ok :0)
Another glorious day and we set off for Port Macquarie. This is just a day pitstop so no plans to book in to a hostel (1st big mistake). The plan is to stash our stuff in a locker at the bus station or train station (2nd mistake) we arrive and the lockers don't have keys and the bus station don't have them either ??? (whats the logic in that i ask myself). Me and Roo trudge about the place looking for a hostel to stash our stuff in a locker and still lockers are none existant in this place - whats going on! Still with no luck we stumble upon our last hostel to try and Tony the boss (or angel in our eyes at the time) let us stash our stuff there for $5 each and we were able to use the facilities until we left at 2am the next morning, bless him the little sweetie. We stash our stuff and jump in the pool and have a natter to Tony and Frank who was stopping there too. After cooling down we head off for a

How great is this
walk around Kooloonbung creek nature reserve. The reserve was interesting until the local wino's started fighting so we scarpered quickly and treked into town. We headed towards the sea where the rocks surrounding it were graffied with pictures and messages - it was truely amazing to read them all as some were an ode to people that had died and others marriage proposals.
We eventually return to the hostel with some beers for Tony for being so good to us. We took refuge here for the rest of the night whilst having some beers ( i have now started drinking the local bitter VB). Whilst sitting on the verander i saw my first huge spider (a brown huntsman) the common house spider ( there is no chance of that crawling into your mouth in the night i asure you). Even though i was asured the spider was only a small one it was still the size of the palm of my hand, i didn't freak out or nothing i actually went to investigate the spider as i knew it wouldn't kill me. Enough excitement for me for a very long day.

Still not slept yet as we are catching the coach at 2.30am to go from Port Macquarie to Byron bay. I slept most of the trip but got off for a break at a service staion and saw my first of the series of BIG things in Australia ( they are huge tacky fibreglass things) this one was a prawn. Arrive in Byron Bay (which is named after the poet Lord Byron) and go straight to check out the beach where we watched a bloke kite-surfing amazing to watch as it must take so much skill. We had a nice endless walk along a nature trail to the local lighthouse had a gorgeous icecream and treked back through the rainforest ( i was truely scared for my life but luckily no creepy crawlies). After such an exhausting day with lack of sleep, too much beer and walking miles and miles we have a barbie for tea and head to bed - on the move again tomorrow.

Bye bye sleep tight my little chicks

Love Little shell, bazza and roo xxxx
