Early start this morning.
Thought we were doing really well arriving at airport early. Just a 5 min walk from hotel so it was great.
Then we hit customs. Oh dear God!
Louie never wanted to go to Bali because of the fear of people planting drugs in your bag. To put his mind at ease we are travelling light. So light that we only have carry on luggage. Sounds good in theory, doesn't it.
We head straight to border control.
It's been over 10yrs since ove travelled overseas. The last time Jazz was 3 so 11yrs ago.
I had completely forgotten that you can only put aresoles in your checked I baggage that goes underneath the plane. π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬Arghhhhhhh. So my excellent organisation meant throwing out our new deodorants and new can hair spray. Not happy!
Thinking we are all good we go to get our bags scanned and I'm stopped because my sunscreen is 150ml and max is 100ml.
If Louie hadn't been with me I would have headed back upstairs and checked my bag in, but noooooo can't do that, so let's throw the 2 x $20 Bondi-sands sunscreen in the
bin and by 2 x 100ml sunscreen in duty free for $30. π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬
Won't forget that again.
So through security I think we are all good. But no, what's this scanning passport stuff. I scanned my passport stood on the feet and looked at the camera. Meanwhile Louie calling me and the security man kept telling me to not look back and look at the screen. Louie getting more annoyed by the minute. Eventually we realise that I didn't take my passport of the scanner.
Anyway, I'm through and look over to Louie who's told his didn't work and had to be scanned manually. All I can hear is FFS I'm over this already. I'm ππππππ
All I'm thinking is "I hope its going to be easier at Bali"
Anyway, we are boarded and it gets funnier. Louie was desperate to sit in the windows seat. Unfortunately we have the only row in the plane with no windows. π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
so will update when we land.
Arrived ok, was a breeze going through customs on e we'd figured out what we needed to do. Definitely pays to do everything online before leaving. We pretty
much scanned our passports and walked out.
People everywhere and so many drivers. Our driver took a photo of himself and sent it to us with great instructions of where to meet.
Our first stop was the shopping centre to get cash out and buy the supplies we lost through customs on our way over.
Our driver couldn't stop laughing because we bought toilet paper. He thought it was the funniest thing ever. Meanwhile in the shopping centre Louie said there was no toilet paper and he's not using the bidee πππππ.
We had some really nice food in the shopping centre. It was Japanese.
We then headed for the hotel, stopped at a scrappy market on the way and observed some crazy driving. Balinese driving scooters with 3 kids on the back often with no helmets. The scooters weave in and around cars. There seems to be zero road rules traffic lights and dedicated lanes mean nothing. So many near accidents it was crazy.
Was very tired when we finally arrived at the Villa. Australians could really learn alot about customer service from these guys.
Our villa is amazing, staff are attentive. We had
a welcome Rosella drink on arrival which was heaven.
We headed to bed incredibly tired.
