Song Writer Tribute
This one to Smoky and Dot Dawson Geo: -31.0915, 150.931
First thing this morning I did washing, we had breakfast then visited the information. Centre, right next door to the Park.
Outside was a song writers Tribute, The Country Music Association of Australia pays tribute to, around 27 song writers. Smokey and Dot Dawson, had a stone to themselves, one very revered couple in Tamworth. Others were Brian Young, Owen Blundell, Arthur Blanch, and many others.
We then spoke to Cindy a lovely lady who advised us to take a drive to Nundle 54 km from Tamworth. We then did a tour of Walk a Country Mile, well worth $4.50, with a Seniors discount. Thanks to Mick they see his card and figure I'm there as well. It was the story of Country Music which was done very well.
Then we hit the op shop. Mick did well with three T shirts, and a book, I bought a shirt.
All set now for our drive to Nundle, we came across Chaffey Dam, opened in 1979, 67,000 mega litres, one of seven dams in NSW providing water, to towns and farming communities. Huge and a few grey nomads free camping around it. Very dry countryside with farming very dependant on irrigation, this

Nundle well, it is amazing, a step back in time, an antique shop with so much in it, you could not make up your mind what to buy. A grocery store with everything exactly as it would have been years ago. Products in brown paper bags, different types of tea, reminded me of the Rawleys truck that used to call at home, years ago. It had a mixture of everything, unfortunately I was not aloud to take a photo. The shops are just as they were 100 years ago, it is nice to see the character in these old buildings being preserved as they were.
Then we went to the wool mill, knitted hats, scarfs, mens slacks, beautiful knitted jumpers, wool for sale $5.70 for 50g pure Merino, very tempting. Heaps of other items for sale and the place still operates the mill a couple of days a week. They have a web sight so if I need some wool later, I wiil be able to still get some.
A house were the owner has three rooms, one where he makes leather products, hand bags, $400 (a bit much) made of

One of the items in the Country Music Walk buffalo hide. Belts lowest price $100 but probably worth it and would last well. All made locally, he proudly told us. He had some wonderful saddles for sale as well.
We then went for a walk around and stopped at the local pub for a great lunch before coming back to the caravan park.
The place is so beautiful, serene and quite, perfect for a relaxing break away, if we are ever up here again, it has a caravan park so we will definitely be staying. Only a half hour drive from Tamworth.
