We set up camp and went to get details regarding the theme parks etc. Thursday was washing day, with 2 full loads of washing while the kids did some schoolwork. Relaxed, went to the shop for a street directory, theme park tickets and groceries. Had an appointment on Friday, lunch at the park and met with a friend for coffee in the afternoon.
The kids were up early Saturday morning for Dreamworld and White Water World. 5.30am Alex woke, but waited until 6am to wake us. We had a countdown to when we could leave. It was quite amusing to watch then get frustrated when we wouldn’t hurry to get ready. We arrived to find the queue still rather small and an attendant saw our RACQ ticket and ushered us to a side entry for early access. We were rather pleased. Went to the rollercoaster first, called the Cyclone. Ready to be strapped in and Alex changed his mind, so Alex and I got off and walked to the bottom. Off to River Rapids, then the Log Ride - twice. Onto the Motocoaster ride - a motorbike rollercoaster. Kate went on with Rod (she took the sidecar option). That was
fun, so Alex wanted a go as well, so we all went. The Nickelodeon Chairlift for Rod & Kate. We had some chips for lunch with frozen drinks to share. Off to White Water World and had lots of fun sharing tubes on slides, going up in scariness to Little Rippers, then The Rip. To Pipeline plunge, then Rod & Alex did the Green Room while Kate and I went into the wave pool. It was closing, so back to Dreamworld. Rod & Kate had another go on the Cyclone while Alex & I watched Flowriders. Over to Motocoaster for 2 last rides - Alex & Rod took pole position! Park was closing, so grabbed some lollies on way out, then home.
The kids were up and rearing to go again in the morning by 8.45am. Straight to Motocoaster, then Rod & Kate did the Giant Drop - no screams, so Alex, joined them for their next ride. Kate came off, then Rod & Alex went up again. Rod had had enough by then so onto the Log Ride, River Rapids and booked Alex onto Flowrider. He had a great time, Kate chickened out, but managed to get the
booking changed to 4pm, so Alex could have another go. He managed to get up onto his knees (with a little coaching). Into White Water World early and did some of the same rides, but did the others we hadn’t tried yesterday. All were tired, but happy by the time we got back to the camper.
Went for a drive down to Surfers Paradise, Coolangatta and Tweed Heads, had lunch at Sizzler’s. The kids loved that and ate their fill. Didn’t need tea that night we were all so full. Got a few things on Wednesday (including new shocks for Rod’s car) and headed down to Kingscliff to stay with Rod’s Uncle Trevor and Auntie Jan for the night. Went out to tea at the bowling club and tea was very filling and very yummy.
