The Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains
Like King's Canyon, the Blue Mountains are also often referred to as Australia's Grand Canyon. Again, they are not a patch on the American version but they were spectacular none-the-less. The whole area is covered in a blue haze - hence the name - which is apparently caused by the evaporation of Eucalyptus oil.

The main 'sight' - oh how very touristy - in the Blue Mountains are the Three Sisters. These are three spikes of rock which were formed when some witch cast a spell on three - wait for it - sisters. I can't remember exactly why such an extreme reaction was necessary, although it was probably due to an argument over some bloke or something. Hell hath no fury and all that!

The best way to reach the base of the Three Sisters was by a railway, which is apparently the steepest in the world. It was frighteningly steep, especially considering that there were no seat-belts.

On the way back to Sydney, we visited a Koala Sanctuary where we all got to have our pictures taken holding a cute little Koala.
