Blue Mountains, Australia - January 16th - 6:06pm
Well I’m pretty knackered today as I only got about 7 hours of sleep last night! Ahaha I need like 12 hours, I’m old you know.
I woke up and poked my head around the corner to see if Jean was up, she was busy doing her morning workout, I started to feel bad since I haven’t even done anything active since I’ve been here. I got over it pretty fast though! We slowly got ready and decided to pack another picnic. We loaded the car up, put the top down and let the wind blow through our hair, we were off.
It’s another lovely day out today, it was about 27 degrees when we left the house this morning at about 10am. Life doesn’t get much better then gorgeous weather, sun is shining, flying down the highway with the top down. We stopped off at a little town called Leura. It was lovely, small historical town. We took a gander at the little shops, contemplated having a coffee but decided not to. We jumped back in the car and headed to Echo Point, we had a spectacular view of the
Blue Mountains and the famous Three Sisters. I saw that there was a few people walking down around the Three Sisters so Jean informed me that there was a path I could walk down, she didn’t care to join me so I dashed down. It took about 5 minutes to get down to where everyone else was. I thought I was back on the Grouse Grind with Cara again, as it was just as steep if not steeper, but the only difference is that this was over within 5 minutes, not an hour and 5 minutes later! I finally got down to the point, I walked on to one of the Three Sisters, took a few pictures and ran back as I didn’t want Jean to be waiting for me for too long.
We met back up and were both starving so we located a lovely picnic table to begin our lunch. It was a nice little place beside Katoomba Falls. We could not see the Falls from our table but they were somewhere around us. We relaxed and enjoyed our lunch.
I was starting to get a little tired by this point but soon got my energy back.
Jean took me to the Scenic World which is a neat little place. There are 3 ways to get down to the bottom, we choose to take the railway down and the cable car up. Sounds kind of boring doesn’t it?? Well the railway is the steepest incline railway in the world (52 degrees) and the cable car is the steepest aerial cable car in the Southern Hemisphere. The railway was a little scary at first. I mean when they say steep you know steep, but I never expected it to be that steep. But the view was great, short but great. It takes you through a cliff side tunnel down into an ancient rainforest. Absolutely spectacular. When we got to the bottom there was a historical part reserved to the coal mine that was there a few years ago, in 1880. There was a section where you could take a walk down to the Miner’s Hut and a scenic route. Jean didn’t think she’d be able to walk to stairs and things so I ran off on my own. I’m SOOO glad I did as well because the views were great. Walking around in a rainforest was cool. The
little Miner’s Hut was neat but the highlight of my day was seeing not 1 but 2 Lyre birds in the wild. I wasn’t sure if they were but a lady beside me said they were and the second one I saw looked more like a Lyre Bird. It was a male bird with the feathers, they aren’t in mating session so they aren’t doing their song and dance but they are growing their feathers that are starting to look gorgeous. It’s days like these that I wish I had a better camera…Hint Hint Lee, you don’t like your camera anymore and want to give it to ME! Haha
It took me about 20-30 mins to get around the loop and meet back up with Jean. She seemed content so I’m glad I didn’t make her wait too long. We then jumped back on the cable car and rode to the top. It was a whopping 3minutes long. I didn’t think I’d last it! Lol Shortest cable car ride I’ve ever been on, but never the less, great views.
We headed back to the car but not before we stopped for an ice cream. Rolo Ice Cream for
me and Mint Chocolate Chip for Jean. We couldn’t eat it fast enough, it was melting down our hands but we managed to tackle it with no stains on our shirts. We slowly made our way back home.
I was pretty tired but Jean informed me that we needed groceries so I managed to drag myself out of the car one last time to get some food for lunch tomorrow.
8:10pm
As I just sit here and am ready to pass out, I realize that I have to complete my scenarios…I think eating dinner was a bad choice as I’m know dead, but I’ll go do my homework, don’t worry Mommy and Daddy! Teehee
I miss you all so much and love you. Wish you were here with me but I’m still trying to have some fun! Hope all is well with everyone!
9:16pm
I’ve successfully completed 5 scenarios, going to make my lunch for tomorrow and hit the sack. Have to be up early to catch the train…YUCK!
Nighty Night!
