Our home for the next month! Maid service four times a week.
On February 18, we took the Arizona Shuttle from Prescott to the Phoenix airport to catch our flight to Los Angeles. From L.A. we then flew on to Mexico City, arriving there close to midnight. We spent the night at the lovely Marriott which is located in the airport. It was so convenient and I was glad that we didn't have to take a taxi so late in Mexico City. Yesterday we flew on a twin engine turbo prop to Puerto Escondido in the state of Oaxaca.

Our friend, Roger, was at the airport to meet us and we were sure happy to see his smiling face. Roger has been coming to "Puerto" (as it's called here) for ten years now and definitely knows his way around the area. For the last two days he's been giving us the insider's tour and showing us the best beaches, markets, restaurants, pharmacy, laundry, massage parlor, has introduced us to some of his friends and most importantly, Roger has taught us how to use the "collectivos" to get around. They look like little covered wagons on the back of a Nissan pickup. We rode with a family from Paris today. Yesterday on one

trip there were nine of us in the back with two men hanging onto the back. It can definitely be a wild and interesting ride.

We love our house, Dos Palmas, and we will be here a month. Our house is very near Zicatela Beach where we plan on spending a lot of our time.

We don't know her name yet but her food and dishes are on the side of the house. She wants to be inside with us when we are home.

Pretty sure we'll be spending a lot of time here. It's just a couple of minutes from our house and the food is good. These dogs were supposed to stay under this table but kept inching their way out.

Nice!
Looks like a great place. Wish we could have joined you. Thanks again for the invitation. We were snowed in last week, but made it down to Richmond for a long weekend to babysit Isaac and Selah and attend the movie "Frozen" (the sing-a-long version) with them. We won't make it to Mexico, but at least we have plans to go visit our Florida family and some old NPS friends down there in early April. We've got Harry settled into his new "home" in Richmond and have been spending a lot of time down there. But we're feeling a little better about doing a some traveling now that we're sure he is well cared for. Have a great time. We will be with you vicariously, if not in person.

Yeah!
So glad to see this. I first visited Puerto in 1977 when it was a sleepy place with great accommodations in hammocks. I will be reading about your trip there as you post. Thanks, WR

Great photos!
Hi Judy ~~ the photos are wonderful and it helps me visualize what it's like. Roger gave me a skype tour once but we didn't get very far as it was mostly at his home there. I talked to Kendra and she said you're going to skype with her today, her birthday. That's great! I'm glad you're with Roger and I'm sure he's really enjoying the visit. Love your blog, keep 'em coming! love, Nancy

Love your blogs....
Looks like a great place. I see a fan in the house. Air-conditioning? I could live with a maid four days a week!! Just gorgeous colors, Judy. We have spent several years meeting our kids Mike and Von and Marcie and Ben (and year before last Steve and Sherry, as well) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Always lovely and fun. This past year we went to the Dominican Republic instead. Always such fascinating experiences. Looks like you are in for a great time.

AC
We have the option of paying for air conditioning but thought we'd try it without it first. Don't think we'll need it. It's warm but certainly not oppressive. Fans at night are just fine.
