The Mayan civilization from mesoamerica.
The social hierarchy from the top were called the elite classes, they included, nobles, priests, merchants, architects, and sculptors
The mayans never had a central authority. They had city-states, local lords, and regional kingdoms. Tribes fought amongst themselves and tried to rule more and more people.
The mayans had the most elaborate writing system in the Americas. They used pictographs and phonetic/syllabic elements; they carved them on stones.
The mayans were full of art and architecture. They had temples, pyramids, palaces, and public plazas filled with murals and stone carvings.
They had a complex religion. They believed the gods had sacrificed themselves for the people so they practiced human sacrifices.
