Sea World, San Diego, was probably our favourite site in California. We absolutely enjoyed every minute! Bat rays swim in the pool at Forbidden Reef. We were all excited to be able to touch these creatures. For a nominal sum (which we all thought was astronomical) we could have fed them, as well.

Here Nathanael pats the side of the pool to attract the rays so he can pet them. They feel like slippery rubber.

Dolphins swam right up to us on the other side of the glass. This one was only two feet away.

Rainbowfishes, native to Australia and New Guinea, are truly a rainbow underwater.

Here is Nathanael caressing the lobster-coloured sea stars. If you were careful, you could actually lift them off of the rock bed to which they suctioned themselves.

The "Pets Rule" show was an incredibly funny presentation of tricks and animal skill. How did they train those geese? We all wanted to take home the little daschund who stole our hearts.

Here is Nathanael, almost at the end of this ride, surprisingly not very wet like some of the other unfortunate passangers. His 'donut' is just beginning to ascend the gigantic corkscrew.

I'm sure it's plain to everyone why Nathanael goes on these rides himself. They would be burying me at sea after dropping down this waterslide! Aaaaaaarrrrggghhh!

After a full day of touring and enjoying the rides, Nathanael still is not ready to head back to the car, up the mountain, and into bed. Yes, he is wet and getting cold, but if he had his way, he would stay until the park closes.
