That’s right! I didn’t want to jinx anything this year so we kept pretty mum about our departure date. Attention: It was today! If you missed your ride with us...no fear....I’m sending you a coupon for an Uber ride to get you home.
Yup.....we have left our winter residence of Tropical Palms behind us. And, best of all, we have taken our RV home with us this time! Remember last year?......when we left our motor home at Tropical Palms and drove back north in our car? Remember how we stayed with our families over the summer? Remember it all now? Sure you do. How could you forget it? You were with us! Lulu has all your names jotted down on her roster if you want to check.
We have been slowing putting all our paraphernalia away....both inside and outside the motor home. Cory tossed our Coffee Klatsch Canopy away.....it served its purpose. On a daily basis, we had many good laughs and endless chatter with our park friends under its cover. It just wore out between the sun, rain and wind.....and maybe the hot air exchanged. We shall miss our gatherings. We left some non-essential items in our storage
boxes on our site. We rent the site on an annual basis so we are fortunate to be able to leave some of our STUFF behind. Cory moans a lot when he has to pack everything we do haul around with us. Lulu inspected his work.
The day before our decampment, we had one last farewell meal with Sam & Sandy. We went all out....our last supper was at the Trough (Golden Coral). Oh, my. Is there anyway to go there and not gorge yourself into a gluttonous state? I’m still recalling over and over (in my mind and on my body) all the different and delicious delicacies that I sampled. Yummers!
Sam & Sandy left Tropical Palms today, also. They headed out, with Sandy driving their RV, about 1/2 hour ahead of us. She said they get on I-75 and stay on that until they reach home. Safe travels, dear friends. We are going to miss you so much. Our last couple weeks together were limited. It wasn’t how it should have been but there was no choice. Read the next paragraph to understand this disastrous and disappointing situation.
I thought I was all done with
medical issues to chat about. WRONG! Hear me out....again. A couple weeks ago, Cory and I found ourselves in an Urgent Care Clinic. I called our doctor but we couldn’t be seen for a week. That would result in either dying or being healed during that time span. So, there we sat for more than an hour; all limp and weak and gasping, waiting our turn. Finally, we were seen by the P.A. who agreed with my diagnosis: acute bronchitis with bronchospasm. He prescribed an antibiotic, prednisone, an inhaler and a pill for our cough. Even, with all that, I was sure I was going to require a lung transplant after I coughed up both of mine! I, especially, isolated myself so no one else could catch it. That’s why we couldn’t go and do any fun adventures with Sam & Sandy. Thankfully, we are better now. But they have gone their way and we have gone ours. Nooooooooo.
With heavy hearts, we must share with you the death of Cory’s younger brother, Alan. It was an unexpected death and has left his wife, Barb, and family, siblings and friends in deep sadness and grief. He will truly be
missed and remembered through cherished memories.
Hey....look who was parked near us at Tropical Palms. We didn’t see Scooby Doo but we found his transportation. Scooby - Dooby - Doo!
I finally had my last physical therapy session on April 20th. Cory has steadfastly taken me to the Celebration Hospital twice a week since the beginning of November for my hourly workout routine. I have to admit I’ll miss it. It certainly made my artificial knees become a welcome and workable part of my body. I truly will miss my therapist, Miranda, as well as all the other staff members that I really got to know. They were all great. I did remind them not to fret.....we would be back.....when Cory has his TKR next October. Just for good measure.....I’m showing you my last X-rays of my right knee. Doctor says they are great! Good!
Of recent, Tropical Palms has been very busy with a lot of underground and now above ground work. They completed the major task of putting the park on city sewer. Now, they are dismantling the sewer water treatment building on the grounds. The old poop pond is being drained. We can remember
the incident when an intoxicated teenager drove his father’s rental car into the poop pond.....that was something. He survived the near drowning.....not sure how he fared with his father. Eventually, the plan for this entire section of the park is to landscape it and make 26 supreme RV sites here. WOW......And Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how do your flowers grow? Here, they will grow huge!
We had to send our dependable golf cart off to our storage location during our absence. Good-bye trusty steed. The storage people pick it up, fix anything needed, wash and shine it up and bring it back to us when we return to TP. It all works perfect.
We are taking it nice and slow as we sail off into the sunset. Knock on wood, our RV has been performing beautifully so far. Fingers crossed! Our first night of our journey finds us at a small campground in Tifton, Georgia. We arrived around 3:00 pm. Not much right around us but just down the pike, we found all the major restaurants. Olive Garden was our choice. Yummers. We are located at the intersection of I-75 and route 82. In the morning, we shall
get on route 82 and head west. Our goal is to arrive at a campground in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On Friday, we plan to attend the graduation of our sweet granddaughter, Rachael, from the University of Alabama. She obtained her Doctorate in cancer research. We are beyond proud of her! From here, our next rendezvous with be at Red Bay, Alabama. This is where our RV was built. This is the mothership where almost all Tiffin owners find themselves at one time another. This will be our fourth visit to this Mecca. Our RV is a 2008 so no longer is under warranty. We are able to get work done by former Tiffin employees who have branched out on their own. We have a few things we need to fix. Our washing machine is acting up....not sure if it can be fixed or if we need a new one. We go to a place called Bay Diesel where they do a thorough inspection of the entire chassis. Cory gets all the fluids and filters changed. I have a few more things on our wish list but we’ll see how it all adds up. We didn’t go on a cruise this year
(canceled due to Covid) so Cory didn’t win another $20k. Rats!
The last lap of this adventure will take us home....well, to our pole-barn in Shongo, NY. Remember we are riding in our home! When we sold our house, we had a place made for our RV next to our building with sewer and electric. Rain barrels will be our water source. We’ll stay there until we go into a campground just a few miles down the road from Shongo. We have reservations here for June & July. This gives us the proximity to our doctors, dentists, family and friends. After that....your guess is a good as ours. We’ll go where the wind takes us.
Stay tuned for the next episode of our wanderings.
