So, we left Florida on Oct. 2 and started our drive north and west. Our plan was to see family and friends, see the fall leaves, and see various National Parks along the way enroute to Tucson, Arizona. Well, we saw the family and friends in Indiana and in Wyoming. Then, we saw the leaves, the parks and to our surprise we also saw SNOW!!!!!
Yellowstone was BEAUTIFUL in white. However, we did miss seeing the blazing colors of fall that we had anticipated. The animals were comical with the snow pellets in their fur while lounging beside the hot springs and geysers. Due to the snow and the icy roads we weren't able to see all areas of the park. Also, much of Yellowstone and Teton were already closed for the winter. The bison and elk were plentiful but the moose were scarce. As always the views of the lakes and mountains in both parks were spectacular.
By Oct. 11 we were on a fast track to Tucson to catch Midnight Maddness at the U of A. So our visits to the remaining parks (Arches, Monument Valley, and Grand Canyon) were rather brief. Those photos will be in
the next blog.
We are loving the beautiful, sunny, warm weather of Tucson. But, more on that later. Enjoy our 2 days of winter in the following photos. That was enough snow and cold for the two of us!!
Enjoying the sun,
RPM
