Day 9

This morning we drove from North Bend into Seattle, a bit under an hours drive if you go straight in. we did not. We first went up to a place called Alpenthal, which is a popular skiing spot when it has snow on it and equally as popular for hiking when it does not. We did neither but enjoyed the stunning scenery and interesting houses built by home sick Austrians. We then proceeded to Snoqualmie Falls. A waterfall with a gigantic drop of over 300ft. from there we went into Pier street market on the waterfront in Seattle, being Saturday it was a real zoo but pretty interesting. We also saw the very first Starbucks outlet although we did not fight through the crowd to buy a coffee there. We saw of course the space needle and also the 2 massive sports stadiums. Hans and I also went off to look at a gigantic wooden railway trestle that is still in use to this day. We were going to drop in on Bill and say gidday but he did not appear to be home. We spent a pleasant evening sitting out in the yard having a few quiet drinks and again admiring the scenery. Even the view from Hans and Catherines backyard is stunning. A few more photos today and you will notice the quality is up a bit as I have been pinching some off other people.
