Deception Pass and West Beach

This afternoon we enjoyed a great hike at Deception Pass Bridge and West Beach on Whidbey Island. We arrived intending on staying for a bit, perhaps walking to the beach and then heading back into La Conner for some dessert. However, we ended up walking along the beach all the way to West Beach . Skipping rocks, climbing rock walls, finding logs to sit on and walk along and enjoying the wildlife and sun kept us at a slow and somewhat steady pace. We were visited by a couple of seals as well as an eagle along the way.

After some time we decided to get a couple of group pics and head for the cars. A quicker return pace saw us arrive about an hour after our planned return, but better for the experience.

I was a brilliant afternoon!
