White's T Trip

Day 34

Today was to be an easy day of traveling. Mostly back roads, some of these roads were worse than secondary roads, sometimes we had to guess which way to go, tried to use the GPS, we were ready to throw it over board. Left Cookeville, TN. at 6:15 am, drove 375 miles including wrong turns, backtracking and rain from 6:00 pm until we got to motel. Got here to Dublin at 8:30 pm which was 12-3/4 hours of driving time (30 minute lunch stop and 1 hr. time change). Now about the car, it was missing at low rpm, like when stopping at a traffic light when pulling out until the rpm would increase. Kept thinking water or dirt in carb., it always ran good with full tank of gas. The car has been run hot most of the days on this trip, today water had to be added often, found no leaks around the radiator, then 10 miles from our motel radiator got super hot, blew it's lid (steam). When I opened the hood to see if I could see if there was a leak, I saw the head bolt front of number 1 spark plug was leaking coolant and running into number 1 spark plug well and shorting the plug, reason for the miss at low rpm. Pulled the head bolt and put high temp silicone around the bolt, hoping it will hold and not leak as we have 417 miles to home, our last day.

we are
going to miss the Ford Model T symbol in pictures...have enjoyed the trip as you did the work. Thanks for setting up this blog and most of all for including Sedan, Kansas in your trip. Mom, has enjoyed the trip by letter as the first car she drove was a Model T.

Jacque, I just know you aren't going to let a leaky head bolt stop you. I'm praying for you. You know you drive more in one day then in all the years I had my "T". Which would be 42!
