Up early and in the office early for a meeting and scavenger hunt of sorts.
Cold wind and air met me on the way out of the building. Thought about going back in the house and getting under the covers but knew I had to be at the meeting.
Drove the 5 miles from my place of quiet to my place of work. The drive was quick but all of those around me were driving like nuts. Then again it could have been me driving like a nut and them thinking I was driving like a nut. Who knows what anyone is thinking early in the AM when it is cold. Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
It was still dark this morning when I made my way into the parking entrance to my work place. The security folks had just opened the security shack and opened the underground garage door. Made my way past the security folks, showed my ID and descended into the depths of the building. Even at this early hour I had to park on the second level of the garage. The wind seemed to follow me into the garage. It was cold even on the second level.
Walked to the elevator and made my way to the 10th floor for my meeting. Meeting are never any fun, seems everyone for gets who called the meeting, what the meeting was to be about, forget to follow the agenda, talk to long, take to many questions not on the subject, and last way past the cut off time. I survived the meeting and made my way to my office.
The answer machine did not have any answers but logged ten calls while I was in the meeting. E-mails were popping in steady as I sat there trying to listen to the phone messages while glancing at some of the e-mails.
Knocked out some research and followed-up on some of the calls and e-mail before heading across the parking lot to the headquarters for yet another meeting.
Wind and cold met me on the walk but I enjoy walking as much as possible. The parking lots were busy and the folks going to work were arriving in droves by car, foot, bus and cycle.
Walked past the bus depot and the metro through the last security check point and entered one of the large entrance doors. My security pass got me through all the people check points and even worked at the turn style entrance. I was in the building heading up the escalators to the main floor rather quickly. This entrance is always a somber reminder of previous sad times since there is a large quilt with the security pictures of all those who died there and here on the wall to remind us of the threat to all of us. There is a feeling of security in this building yet also a feeling of sadness.
Made my way past the security observer at the top of the escalator, machine gun and all. Yep, these folks are scary to see but a must have in these days of terror.
Walked through the little city with all the shops and into the hall of munchies places and past the coffee stands to the mirror halls and the hustle and bussell of the wild and wonderful world of Shadows. Four hall ways, three stair ways, four floors, and numerous hall ways later I was at the other meeting.
Yep, today was meeting day. Made all three meetings and then headed back through the hall ways that all look alike. Made several stops to pick up data I had requested prior to my walk and then headed out of the hall of mirrors and smoke into the windy and cold parking lot. The walk back to my office was faster than the walk earlier since it was colder and there was more wind.
Once at the office it was time to take some pics of the folks at the office going away party. One of the Shadows was leaving Shadow Central and getting a better job down south as a Shadow. Once a Shadow, Always a Shadow or so it seems.
The bye bye party ended and I was back at the computer pounding out reports and following up on research.
M&M man rang letting me know my day was over and it was time to take the stairs to the dungeon to find my wheels and head home.
All and all the day was a fun one and I enjoyed every moment of it. Nice to live for the moment and have fun doing so.
