America…the home of the brave and the land of consumerism. I remember walking into a store in late September and being surprised to see Christmas trees and all the décor going up for sale. That came and went, then Valentines decorations quickly replaced those of the yuletide season. Most Americans love the holiday decorations and are taught from an early age- holidays=spending money (although this is not true in many parts of the world!). My son did not buy me anything but he did make me a lovely Valentine hat stated, “Mommy and Daddy, I love you very much and I won’t say stupid”. He proceeded to tell me multiple times a day how he would not say “stupid”. I think he likes how it rolled off of his little lips. Reminds me how sometimes we get focused on something we shouldn’t do instead of focusing on what we should.
I recently had the opportunity to attend Global Hope’s Annual leadership conference in Broomfield, Colorado. This was a conference where we focused on what we can do as non-profits to better serve the orphans, abandoned and high risk children. ITHM and Global Hope have had a relationship since way back
in the day in Romania when we both ran children’s homes. Now, we partner with both Spring Valley Academy and HOREC orphanage in Kenya. They also have a presence in India. The time was both encouraging and educating for me. It was also the first time away from my son and even though we both survived he did inform me upon my return that I was “not his mother”. That lasted for a couple hours then he forgave me and told me how much he loved me and... that he would not say “stupid”.
In a week Johnny and I will travel with the mission leadership team from our church to attend another conference. The conference deals with working among unreached people groups in countries that are not open to the Gospel; specifically Indonesia and Malaysia.
Global Frontier Missions states;
“Missiologists say that about 90% of our missionary work force is going to parts of the world that are already considered “reached” with the gospel leaving only 10% to minister among the 1.7 billion people that have never heard the name of Jesus”.
Jesus was a pretty amazing person who said some brilliant things and lived
an incredible life of service and love. We believe others should have the opportunity to hear that Jesus lived, died and rose for them. And, to know that He wants to have a relationship with them.
We feel a call to share the good news to those who have never had the opportunity to hear. However, to do that, we need training. We care about those we serve and share with and we want to respect the cultures into which we are sent. We are thankful for the opportunity to go and hear speakers from all over the world, sharing about their cultures and what a positive impact the Gospel had in their lives.
Johnny has been volunteering with an organization that teaches conversational English to refugees. His only student thus far is a man that came from northern Iraq and is part of a persecuted tribe. This man saw family members being slaughtered at the hands of an angry leader. He is thankful to be safe and now adjusting to a new life in a new country. To have someone care enough to teach the refugees and immigrants English with kindness and respect means the world to

Thank you for being on this journey with us. Thank you for your love and support!
In order to continue our work we need prayers and financial support. If you want to offer one or both we thank you in advance!
