Cades Cove
Our First Tunnel We arrived in Townsend Tennessee on 28th of May and found a really cool place in the world. The area is awesome with wonderful views of water, streams, and mountainous terrain. The neighbors we meet in the campground are awesome and only live 30 miles from here. They come and enjoy all summer long and were a wealth of information and help of what sites to see and best things to do. We started out on Friday the 29th with a motorcycle ride through the mountains to Cades Cove. I have a cute picture of the first guy we meet here in the mountains below. We were pulled over for no helmets. I didn't even look because we saw people all over town not wearing helmets. Well as it turns out there was a huge motorcycle rally going on and the police were not messing with them. After all that then we decided to head towards Gattlinburg through the mountains and what a beautiful ride it was. We made many stops along the way to enjoy the views. Gattlinburg is a very touristy town but was very nice to kick back and enjoy a relaxing day walking the town and enjoying
some of the local treats and partake in the fun. Saturday the 30th we ventured out to take our first bicycle ride around the Cade cove loop. It is an 11 mile ride so we thought that would be a great place to start. Although it was bit challenging with all the hills it was a great ride and we made many stops along the way to enjoy the old homesteads, church, and mills for grinding corm into flour. Sunday we slept in as the bicycle ride took more out of us than we thought, LOL...After finally waking we found a cold, wet crappy day so we hopped into the truck and went to Pigeon Forge, again a short drive from camp but had many things to do. We shopped a bit and enjoyed some of the towns attractions. We then found a moonshine distillery which had moonshine tasting of all the different flavors starting with the straight going all the way through the fruits and right up to coffee. All in all we tasted 11 different flavors with our favorite being the Blackberry which we purchased and later took home to mix with Lemonade, it was awesome. We had

Enjoying the day on the bike a great meal in Pigeon Forge at Harpoon Harrys Crab Shack where we enjoy snow crab and Alaskan king crab legs before venturing back to camp for the night.
