I generally do not post a travel blog when we are at home, however, this is the exception that makes the rule. Providence has a long art history and one of the unique events that is held every year is called Waterfire. Because of Covid they were unable to have the annual lighting last year. This year they were able to bring it back.

Waterfire is best described as a moving art exhibit. The main lighting happens in the water plaza where there is a small stadium built into the landscape. From there it is a series of cauldrons filled with cedar and lit on fire. This is all done along a stretch of the river that runs through Providence. Music is also piped along the way. We watched the main lighting then walked along the river to see and hear the rest. It was a very visually stunning experience and the cedar smell filled the air near the river banks.

I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
