<strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Vacation 2013

Although not our longest trip, a planned 4,800 miles, it might be our most diverse.

We’ll go from eating grits to back bacon and hearing “Y’all” to “eh”. We will be making a giant loop around half of the USA. Our trip will take us from Baltimore to Atlanta then to ‘The Big Easy” via Talladega, Pensacola and Mobile. After sampling the beignets, po’boys, and muffulettas we’ll head north along the mighty Mississippi to the gateway to the west: St. Louis. There we’ll watch 4th of July fireworks under the arch and eat ribs, drink the local brew (Budweiser), and dine at Steak and Shake at least once.

After resting and doing laundry in St Louis for a few days, we’ll strap ourselves in for the long drive to North Dakota. Since we saw the “big end” of the Mississippi we’ll have to see the “little end”. At a spot near Bemidji, Minnesota we plan to actually walk across the mighty river.

Our trip now heads east to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Here we plan to take a sunset cruise around Mackinac Island before heading north to Ontario. Crossing at Sault Ste. Marie. We then plan on taking a northerly route around Lake Huron to Toronto and Niagara Falls. From here we will head south to spend a night in Reading, before going to Washington DC where we spend the evening with Sir Paul McCartney at a concert in Nationals Park.

We’ll be be wearing flip-plops and sweaters on the same trip. We are looking forward to the trip. However, neither of us are quite ready to leave. There are lists to prepare and clothes to pack and we haven’t reached that point yet.

We hope you will subscribe to our blog and follow us as we circumnavigate the eastern half of the U.S. of A.
