Day 1: And we're off . . . with a flight delay

Day started with word of a flight delay, which might have helped our navigation through the Portland morning commute, but cramp our connection at JFK. Then, on way to PDX, there's a crash on I-5 that results in 45-minute delay, so -- thanks to Madame GPS -- we rerouted up the scenic 99E back way through Woodburn and Oregon City. Once in the air, though, it was smooth sailing through JFK and onto Prague.

After a sleepless overnight flight, we're reminded how much we don't enjoy red eye flights! Next stop, the Czech Republic.
