College roommates and I got together and had a reunion in Portland where one of us now lives. First day we were there we went to the Oregon Brew Fest. Since it was the 2nd of 2 days that the fest was going on the most popular beers were already taped out. This left mostly IPAs and other strong bitters. If you know anything of Portland beers you know that they love there hops. It would not be a far exaggeration saying they have about 3 IPAs for every other beer there. Anyways, the brew fest, they gave you a little mug about 8-10 oz. that you could get in line to get filled with beer for 4 tokens to fill it or one token to get a sample which filled it about 1/3 to 1/2 full depending on the pourer. Ended up having 21 samples consisting of about 14 different types of beers. Over the course of the week I think I ended up tasting about 60 different beers. Quite amazing. Near the end of the fest, Dan and I came out of the port-a-poties and a security guy told Dan he was too drunk and that he had to

leave. This was ridiculous since he didn't stumble or anything (at this point). So he went around, threw his mug and last chip to me (he and I were the only ones left drinking at this point), I went and filled his mug and mine. By the time I got them filled he had walked to the front entrance and got back in with no problems at all.

After the fest we wandered around Portland for a bit. Another great thing that Portland has is a place called VooDoo Donuts. They are amazing, specially when drunk. They have the most wide assortment of donuts i have ever seen, from one with gum balls on it, to one with oreos, to mango filling, to one that is about a foot across. Ended up leaving downtown back to Kurts place and then to Mexican food where we took a shot of tequila that was about a double shot since the place we went to didn't have shot glasses so they gave it to us in small water glasses. Went back the the house and relaxed and passes out. Great way to start off a trip.
