Our destination today is Bandon OR. We visited the old town first, a harbor town with lots of shops and restaurants. Myrtlewood is from a tree unique to this NW area of the US. Some wooden pieces are quite nice.
We drove to Bullard State Park and set up for two nights. We walked the coast trail, only about two miles each way, but with soft sand and hills it seemed a bit longer. We were rewarded for our efforts with a magnificent view of the Pacific and we were the only ones on the beach!
Ray’s Food Store helped replenish our cupboards.
We were up early and out on our bikes to the old Lighthouse. This narrow harbor is the recipient of many nasty storms. The history of the lighthouse keeper tells of the sailors being safely guided from the sea.
We biked back downhill to the old town and did a more thorough exploration of things.
