Yoo-Hoo....time to get up and get going for travel day #2. Cory has the engine all reved up and he's ready to go. Lulu beat us all to the RV. Sometimes she gets a bit pushy. No one is going to take her spot in the RV but she worries. Settle yourself down, kiddo. Weather is improving. Took my babushka off. Actually, the sun came out and we all donned our sunglasses. Woweee.
???Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happySunshine in my eyes can make me crySunshine on the water looks so lovelySunshine almost always makes me high. ???
Not much excitement today.....just highway driving. Nothing to see, nothing to do. First rest area stop was super crowded. It was a small area to begin with. Cory thought our coolant level was down a bit but by the time he got into it with all his stuff, he saw it was fine. No need for coolant. He ended up with filthy hands and you can see that our car is a filthy, moving mud hut. I hooked up a new dash cam we bought.
Not sure what it is supposed to do except to record our road travels....which is very long and boring now. Not wanting to see it again on video, that's for sure. I'll read up more on it cause I know it has to be something we want and can enjoy. One gas stop was a goody, though. Cory got me my first Dairy Queen blizzard of the year. My favorite: Chocolate Covered Cherry. Yummmm. Slurp, Smack, Smile. Of course, Lulu figured she should partake in part of it. Miss Piggy! Wind was very strong here. Blew our door right open as we unlatched it! We struggled getting in and out of the RV....almost being blown away. Actual fact. Only thing that kept us grounded is that neither of us is light as a feather.
I posted on Facebook a video and photo when we got to the Big Mountain on Rt.77 as you leave Virginia and enter North Carolina. Traffic was bumper to bumper heading towards it. A moving parking lot. The mountain had warning signs for Fog so I guess folks slowed up in anticipation. The fog was only down in the valley so maybe they slowed to
just look at it. No matter, going down the hillside was fine. Whew! Always glad when Cory has maneuvered our buggy down the mountain. ??The bear went over the mountain?? ....and so did we!
We added a few new travel blog followers today. Now we are 103 in number. Let's welcome them with open arms. Welcome friends! ????? We are so glad you have joined our group and boarded our bus. Just slide over a little and we'll have plenty of room for everyone. The more the merrier. Please let me take a moment to share a few items. Who is Lulu? .....The small gal with the short brown hair and red flower in it. She is our traveling companion....the subject of many of my photos. After our dear, beloved dog, Chip, died, I needed a replacement to use in my photo shoots. Thus, Lulu arrived. She's quite a character and shows up in places you would never think she would or could. Right now, she's dancing a happy dance (best she can with no legs) knowing you will be watching her. She's a bit vain and narcissistic.
Today's blog is my 363rd blog that I have written.
YAWN! I started in 2012 when we wanted to travel in our RV across the country to California and British Columbia. We only made it to Texas. If you hit the "previous" word in the blog page, eventually you will get to that very first blog which explains the shortening of the trip. If you read them all, your eyes will be burned out. So, just sit back, relax and hopefully enjoy this journey along with us as we winter in Florida. Oh, yes -- as you read the blogs and view my photos....sometimes you have to scroll way, way down through ads, etc to see ALL my photos. They show up at the very end. I think this blog won't have that many but in the future, I do get carried away and snap away like a snapping turtle. Actually, this blog has 11 photos so you do have to scroll way down to catch them all.
We landed today in Statesville, N.C. Tomorrow we were to have our rig dewinterized at a Camping World here. Optimistic Cory hoped that they could do it today. Mr.Lucky wins again. Mr.Right is right again. Yes, they could fit us in.
Terrific. We wandered their store while they worked on our RV. They have so many neat items but we can live without them so we only bought a soap dish for our shower at home. We are getting good.....limiting our buying since we are trying to downsize. Patting ourselves on our backs. Pat, Pat, Pat. Lulu took over the comfy couch in their lounge. They let us keep the RV there for overnight.
Our next priority was to find a car wash for the "mud hut" we have been towing behind us. Talk about tinted windows! Ours were like they were blacked out with black crepe paper. Dungeon dark inside the car. Ahhh, found the car wash and came through it like a squeaky clean baby.
Next stop: the Ramada Inn. They give a discount if you had work done by Camping World...that's us...we did. Nice room. Time to eat....it's late now. We're starved. Went to an Outback Steakhouse that we had dined at before. Very tasty. Of course, Lulu had to sip our liquor drinks. Gotta watch her. She's starting to like them a lot. Took really big sips this time! Barfly!
Ready to call it
a day. I bet you are, too. So rest up. We won't be in a big yank to leave in the morning so you can pass on your wake-up call. See you in the morning. Good night one and all.
