This is an extract from ashleigh written journal (bound to be a best seller) written on the plane from newyork.
Time: 9.22pm (NY time)
Travelled: 21 hours
Location: The Air
Havnt even arrived in San Jose and have seen so much! Leaving the house at 3.30am was a bit of a shock to the system (made better with the help of some cereal). Leaving Dublin was great. I wish someone had told me that drinks were free on the plane before i had bought an unbelievable overprised bottle of water in dublin! Food was great on the plane. So far it feels like al weve done today is eat! we got prezels, roast beef dinner, baguette etc.
flying into newyork was amazing! We saw the emprire state building and the statue of liberty. It was frustrating though as we couldnt leave the airport but we could see the landscape of newyork city, and it was amazing! In new york itwas 1degree celeus. We killled time in the airport, where i appropriatly purchased a giant and deliscous big red apple. Though the first thing we bought when we arrived was DR pepper. No wonder i have a headache.
After apply
a $140 moisturisure, i was ready to move on.
Finally ready to board, we entered the plane. A security issue kept us waiting in the plane for over an hour. Everything was ok aslong as we can watch TV i thought.. Half way through watching an interesting program about salad, a message appeared demanding I pay $6 dollors to watch the rest. Almost as bad as making old people and the lazy pay a fifer for a suitcase trolly. Scandalas i thought :P
Being stuborn as always, i entertained myuself the old fashioned way, by drawing, followed by stairing out of a window for an hour. After considering walking to costa rica instead, the plane started to move. Actualy when i say move, i mean crawl. 20 minuits of crawling along the runway, we wondered, was the pilot still awake. Finally we took off.
The sun setting over NY city was unbelievable. Brooklen Bridge and the empire state building were lite up like xmas decorations. The sunset was undescribable. Like therapy to the eyes.
Sleeping hasnt worked sofar. But thankgoodness as i just saw the most frighteningly amazing thing. A thunder storm from above!
Right
now im thinking, how the hell can someone sleep like that. Sitting, with their neck at a right angle?
Ive experimented, and have cracked it. Lie your head on a big sock on the tray table infront with a coat on your head. Genious.
The last meal could easily have passed as unedible, with the nutritional content of a sponge. (not that I ate the whole thing or anything..) I cant believe how little clothes i have with me and i managed to spill melted cheese all over my only decent set. It wasnt even nice cheese. Infact, was it even cheese at all...?
On the plus side, i gave jack a doller to drink a discusting tomato drink (moneys tight) which amused me for a while.
Now sitting with nothing to do, ive resorted to writting. I may even read a book...
Wildlife seen so far : a short haired poodle, a long haired poodle and a poodle with a beard ...
Dont be expected to hear from us for a while, not sure if there will be signal in the rainforest!
