Refreshment comes with sleep. We felt much better this morning even though a few rain drops tapped on our fly. We were out by 6AM cooking and packing trying to get done before any real rain started. We hit the trail at 7.

Walking north we kept an eye out for possible sites we could have tented last night. None were found for at least an hours walk. We had made the right choice stopping when we did. More + 500', - 500' climbs and descents met us on the walk today. We made the RPH Shelter at 4.7 miles in just over two hours. We took a short snack break there. This was a fancy shelter with four walls a door and windows. There was a covered porch for eating and cooking. We checked the shelter register and saw where our pod members had passed that way. The nearest member is just one day ahead of us. This year we are the ones staying on the trail and everyone else is jumping off going back home. The bad weather threatened us all morning, by noon the sun had returned.

We crossed the Taconic Parkway and I84 both today. This shelter is half way between Stormville and Poughquag due south about five miles. We should be in CT day after tomorrow. Our shelter tomorrow will be 1.2 miles short of the border.

My "Frankinshoe" took another hit and is being held together with duct tape. I will have to replace them when we get to Kent, CT on Friday. I had a tough day. It seemed that I just couldn't get any speed up, my legs felt like lead all day.

We made the shelter by 2:30 and have been resting and cleaning up ourselves and working on gear. Made a few phone calls and have a fire going. Supper is over with the dish washed and the food bag is hung in a safe tree. Thunder is rolling in the distance so it is about time to crawl in the tent for the night. Tomorrow is another long one 16.3 miles.
