this picture was taken by a japanease couple that we asked. less than a 5 minute walk later 3 japanease girls asked us to take their picture - karma!
Sunday and Monday (July 15th-16th) I spent on a day off in NYC, and what's more important - finally met BatSheva (who's in Israel by now for quite some time...). After many e-mail co-ordinations we met outside the bus station in NYC and went to the Jazz Hostel near Central Park to put her backpack there. Then we bought bread and hummus and sat on the lawn in Central Park to eat and catch up. Finally meeting her was very exciting and fun, and we just sat on the grass and chatted for a couple of hours. When we finally decided it's time to get up and travel we started walking around the park, getting from one side to the other. We were there on a sunday, so the park was full of people tanning, running, riding bikes, playing different kinds of sports - nobody's working and there are no buildings around, just a huge beautiful green area for recreation. Afterwards we went back to our hostel and spent the night sitting on the hostel's roof and chatting with the Canadian guy from our room and some other hostel-guests. On Monday we decided to go to Greenwich Village - a beautiful

area with a lot of places to go out to (which didn't help us because we were there at noon). We ate lunch at a middle-eastern restaurant which was a lot of fun and then rested on the grass in Washington Square (a really nice green spot, that for some reason quite a few people that didn't really look homeless were sleeping in). We continued to explore the area - Soho, Little Italy (where everything was green-white-red) and Chinatown - where most of the stores were filled with weird-looking chinese stuff, but we bought a really good looking basket of strawberrys. Now we had to find a place to wash the strawberrys in (a.k.a. bathroom/sink) - after a failed attempt to enter a random building, we went into a courthouse that looked big and with a touristic potential. The guard in the entrance said there was nothing interesting there but was very nice and gave us a speech about where we should visit in the area and then showed us the way to the bathroom (after a security inspection). Then we went (after another security inspection) to the nearby supreme court that the guard recommended about, which was very beautiful

and had a very impressive painting on its ceiling of famous legislators from the human history. Then we went to a nearby garden to eat the delicius strawberrys and finished the day in the City Hall that was already closed by the time we got there. We departed at the bus terminal and made plans to meet again before her return to Israel. Those 2 days were very enjoyable and packed with experiences, and after 2 pretty boring weeks in camp I came back recharged and with a good feeling.
