Uprooted and déroutée
I pondered long and hard whether I should put an ‘s’ to ‘déroutée’, making it double. After all, we’re two, aren’t we? Two in the same boat⎯in the same plane, same life, same hell, same new beginning… Pick one or pick them all, like I do from time to time.
I haven’t decided yet if this is the same nightmare going on and on or if it’s a glimpse of sunlight, a welcome change of scenery or a thoroughly stupid idea. Pick one or pick them all…
One thing I know for sure is we’re leaving.
One thing I decided is not to put an ‘s’. Whatever questions I might have, they’re not hers to bear.
So we’re going, both severed from our roots. I’m sure she won’t lose a moment before digging her feet in our new soil. As for me, j’admets ma déroute mais tenterai de trouver un chemin qui me convient, et qui nous mènera à bon port, ma fille et moi.
6 at night
6-hour flight
6-hour jetlag
I’m seeing signs where there are none! Tell me six is also a recipe for success?
