Nick Stephens... I made this myself..it was scrummy..
Mike was a super star and before we were up and awake this morning he had been out for a little walk (Jackie says he likes his little walks) and came back with a tray of Starbucks Coffees and Fresh Danish pastries!.. Martin opened his cards and we went all got ready for todays adventure.. sounds like an Enid Blyton story book "Four go over the Pond"..

The hotel provide a breakfast and it wasn't bad we could choose to have eggs n bacon but making your own fresh waffles and the plentiful selection of breakfast items meant we had enough to eat to tackle todays' Challenge a trip up the top of the Rockafeller Centre!

We walked down and the queues were minimal.. Mike's research has paid off as we are getting the timings just right. I was a bit unsure as Martin and I are not usually good with heights... (I am only 5 foot 2... well 5 foot 1 now as all the nonsense that come with getting older means I have shrunk..honestly... ) but we sucked it up put on our brave faces and stepped in the lift to infinity and beyond...... Birthday Boy Buzz

Planning the route...
pressed his buttons and we ascended in the glass roofed elevator to the 69th floor and it did take me a while to adjust but JMM (Jackie Mike & Martin) were straight in and over to the glass panels to take in the most amazing views.

It is simply breathtaking and Mike and Martin studied the maps and plotted the various skyscrapers, (Jackie and I found a nice NYPD policeman.. we have a mission to have as many photos taken with the guys from the NYPD as we can .. my big points mission is to have a photo sat in the back of a Police car but I would have to do something bad to succeed on that one... and I honestly haven't found anyone I don't like.... the night is young

The Officer was lovely as are everyone without exception so far, and we chatted bout the raw and real effects that 911 had on the community and he said that the Officers that were sent to trawl through the rubble for remains are still dying from cancers due to the toxins to this day. We will go to pay our respects tomorrow... that's going to be emotional I'm sure

We spent an hour or two on the Observation Deck and on the way back down Mike led us to have a look at the skating rink.. we were a bit lost and a Janitor asked if we needed help.. Huh?.yaw looking for da skatin rink?... it's 90 degrees out there you serious? He must have thought we were nuts.. (actually bud.. they can do it in Dubai..)

We spent the afternoon on various hop on hop off tour buses and I now have an in-depth knowledge of the names of the buildings and a bit of history and movements of the people. It was bloody hot and I am proud how far I managed to walk with my sore knee but we were all frying in the searing heat as we sat on the top of the 3rd bus at Battery Pier waiting for more passengers to embark. ...Which plonker said you won't be needing you sunglasses today?...We saw so many places I can't begin to list them all but we covered a lot of ground today. The architecture here is just like the community.. a melting pot of different visions cultures and ideas that all nestle together in harmony to create this amazing city... I love New York!

We stopped at a deli for lunch.. lovely and headed back so Jackie can have a little sleep and I can rest my knee before we head off to Grand Central Station for Martin's birthday dinner at Michael Jordan's Steak House. The boys have gone for a birthday beer... well it's compulsory on your birthday...
