Well, nearly one week done now and we can tell you that new york is a great place to visit. You would need at least one year and one million dollers to see everything that the city has to offer. However, with only severn days and a slightly smaller budget we haven't done too badly, here are some of the best bits with some photographs.

One of the highlights was the observatory deck on the empire estate building. Its on the 86th floor so the views of the city were great (see photo) , they had to be after a two hour wait to get up there, but it was worth it. I think you need to pick your time to avoid the crowds.

We have also spent lots of time in central park. Its the largest park we have ever been in and to give an idea of the size it contains at least four lakes / reservoirs, 26 000 trees and nearly 9 000 benches (we counted). Its a good place to watch the world go by as there is so much going on. Visited Strawberry Fields, the John Lennon memorial on the west side of the

park and saw Tom Hanks (of course).

New York is also a good place for museums, we have visited the Natural History Museum, the Guggenheim Museum and the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum. The Natural history museum is the best of these with all kinds of stuffed animals, dinosaurs and a space and light show. The intrepid is ok if you are into boats / planes n stuff but the Guggenheim is purely for the modern art fan, not us.

Times Square was also good to visit but you have to like neon signs and crowds of people. It is very impressive, but a bit expensive for a beer i.e at least $6.

We have also seen the broadway show "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" which was very good, a remake of the 1980's film of the same name. We got half price tickets in times square as all unsold tickets are sold off cheap at the end of each day.

Passed by the World Trade Centre site, they are currently building on the site. It does have an eerie feel to it, not surprising for a place where 3000 people died only a few years ago.

Not that we bought anything!

Done the obligatory trip to macy's and bloomingdales and various other shops too expensive to mention. Other places visited include chinatown, Soho and the financial qtr, wall stree etc.

Thats about it really, I will try to update as often as I can but this will only be once a week / fortnight.
