Mangos!
Delicious!! First of all, I apologize for the past month's blog slackerdom hole that I fell into. I spent most of my time bumming around beaches and islands in Thailand, and although it was fabulous, it was not super conducive to blogging. Slow/pricey internet with too much draw to the outside world (aka the beach). I have many stories of the past month, but you may just have to wait to hear them in person(ie evil lady throwing my friend's camera into the 30m deep ocean and telling us how to recover the pics on the memory card even though the camera was obviously gone; falling every time i went for a run; overnight boats where I had to share 2 tiny spots with 3 people; taking care of my 2 adopted 22/23 year old British daughters; freaking out about the ant invasions in my room; serious shopping on Ko Phi Phi and Ko Phangan; bad Thai vodka; visiting "The Beach" where the movie was filmed and wondering how I would do if I had to spear a shark; getting sucked into a horribly sad Jodi Piquolt book that made me cry for days; a second day of rock climbing which was
Ko Phi Phi
little boy and boat amazing; and finally...the Full Moon Party!!)
I left Thailand and spent 1 night with my cousins in Singapore. It was too short of a stay, but it was good to see them again after my months of traveling. I left early in the morning, flew to Tokyo (where there was noone in the middle seat!), checked out all the 'Hello Kitty' merchandise in the airport shop and then flew from Tokyo to LA (where I had an entire row to myself!).
I arrived in LA expecting only Katie to be at the airport (which was awesome that she drove down from Sacramento to pick me up!), and was surprised to see the paparazzi (aka Megan) flashing pictures next to her! The sign was great and I was so excited to see them...and the baby carrots they were holding!!
We spent the day in our old neighborhood, eating, shopping and visiting around and got to surprise everyone else that Megan was in town. Claire, Amy and Eileen all joined us for dinner-it was so good to see everyone!! We stayed at Claire and Scott's and got tortured by their dog, but it was a great little trip at
Fire limbo!
I got talked into doing this and it was SO hot!! the end of my big trip!! I got to go to a ton of my favorite LA restaurants and learned that there are peacocks in Arcadia (hello, random!)
I was sad to leave LA and say goodbye to everyone, but was excited to get to NY and super excited to finally end the web of lies. One of the last big lies was my birthday phone call to my mom Thursday night at midnight NJ time...I pretended it was morning in Thailand, raining, I had just had breakfast and was waiting for it to clear up to go to the beach. I told stories of snorkeling trips, cell phone technical difficulties, scary fish and made up new friends. I deserve an Oscar! I flew into JFK, journeyed into the city and hung out at Jessie's for a little (although it was early in the morning and she was still sleeping) and then got to my apartment! It is a great place and I was happy to move in, although I was unable to get any of my stuff from my parent's house because according to my mom, I was still in Thailand. I spent Friday and Saturday wandering around
Octopus
so happy the water is clear! the city, figuring out my new 'hood and going out with friends.
Sunday, I woke up relieved that finally we would be able to end all this lying madness!!! I don't know how we pulled it off, but we did! Renee was unbelievably shocked! 35 people tailgating all in matching t-shirts with her picture on it saying "Celebrating the #1 Yankee Fan's Birthday" with the #60 on the back (we assured her no one would realize that meant it was her age!). I predicted her first words; "I hate you all" and she attempted to beat up my dad. It was hilarious! Once she saw me she said "what are you doing here" and my cousins from Florida got the same reaction. We proceeded to share with her all the millions of lies we had told since November to ensure she wouldn't be on to us...6 months is a lot for this family...we like to talk!! The Yankees won in extra innings which made it even better! Afterwards, we left the game and went to granny's for some dinner and cake!
Well, I am semi moved in, on the job hunt and happy to be living here! The
with my children
a night out...warming up for Full Moon night! east coast branch of the SilberChan B&B is almost open for business! Make your reservations now!
