Me At Heathrow
Before my 8 hour flight. I Woke up at 6.40 am and said my goodbyes to Maria and headed to Kings Cross tube station to get the tube all the way to terminal 3 Heathrow and it was 4 pounds on the tube instead of 15 pounds on the heathrow express, it took longer on the tube but id left plenty of time to get there.
I got straight into the line for check-in as soon as i got there as i couldn't be bothered to carry or my kit around for a while. It was the right decision as it took nearly an hour to check-in and then the check-in guy asked about my trip and was impressed at the various places i would visit and he got my bag taken onto the plane via the fragile routing as i had my boots attached to it on the outside and he did not want it knocked off with the usual luggage and i wouldn't have my boots at the other end.
I then headed through to departures and had to have three ziplock bags for my inhalers and toiletries, maybe i should travel lighter next time..lol. then through security and also had to
take my shoes off as well as my hat belt etc...hehe.
I picked up my cash from travelex and headed to my gate and before i knew it i was on the flight and it was all real, i was on an 8 hour flight to the US, i tried sleeping on the flight and that did not work out and a dizzy blond in front of me slung her chair back into my knees for most of the flight and the videos and movies did not work on the flight, but i had two nice veggie meals on the flight and i finished my book and recycled it by passing it to a cabin crew member to read.
I sat next to a nice French lad on an aisle seat and he was meeting friends in New York for a weeks holiday. Eventually we landed in NYC and a long wait for the immigration booths and why do you always feel nervous with these people and coppers?....its irrational...lmao.
I eventually got to a booth and the guy was nice enough and chatted about my trip and gave me my stamp and visa waiver and for bio-metrics
My host HB
my Couchsurfing host HB:) (finger print scan and a photo), so i was in and not sent home...rofl.
Then i went through and got my rucksack straight away and still had my boots and i walked though arrivals and my NYC host HB (HB is his nick and prefers it to his full name) spotted me and gave me a hand with my stuff and we made our way to the monorail, its called the airtrain and was $5 dollars and we got off at Jamaica station and then jumped up a subway to head up to Jersey. We met a Slovakian lad Bruno on the subway car and he was not sure how to get to his hotel and so HB helped him find it with me tagging along, we went along 42nd and past time square which was busy and the stage etc was already out and ready for New Years Eve.
We then got to 33rd street and got a path train to Hoboken and then we got a taxi to Ogden Avenue were HB lives and the was an awesome view form his apartment over NYC.
By this time it was gone 5pm (NYC time) and HB
New York Subway
Bruno (Slovakian),Me and HB had chatted all the way and was a really nice friendly guy, when we got into his apartment he made me had home and gave me his bedroom and he was going to sleep on the couch, wow what a great guy, i sorted my stuff out and we headed out for dinner just after 7pm.
HB was going to take us to a place he had heard of, we looked for it for a while and passed NYU (New York University) and Washington park and we finally could not find this place and we settled for a veggie asian place i spotted, we both had soup and green tea, HB had the buddah veggie soup and i had the seaweed soup. It was very nice and we relaxed and chatted and with tip on top its was $20 for the both of us which i thought was good value.
We then headed back to Jersey and my stomach felt iffy, i got an unlimited 7 day metro card for the subway which was $24 and a path railcard which was $16 dollars and by the time we got back it was gone 1am and so i decided
42nd Street
Views of 42nd street to hit the sack, however i did not get much sleep as i spent most of the night going to the toilet because of my iffy stomach and i had taken some stomach tablets but they took forever to kick in.
So i was pretty tired when i got up on Sunday
