We drove to Lake Placid to check out the Olympic sites. We found the Olympic stadium and the winter sports museum. We paid and checked out the museum, then found the tourist bureau. After that we saw the ice rinks for the 1932 and 1980 (Miracle on Ice) hockey games. Also saw the outdoor speed ice skating rink that Eric Hayden skated on. We were bummed that it cost money to visit other Olympic sites (Whiteface Mountain and jumping complex) and decided instead to hike to Ampersand Mountain. Rick and Max made it to the top (1700 ft up, 5.4 miles round trip), but Maggie and Chrissy didn’t quite reach the top. All were exhausted. Went to eat at Little Italy (litaly) the first place we found in Saranak Lake. Delicious. The area we are staying in is very remote and it seems like every time we drive to somewhere we take a new route! It is very pretty, mountainous and green.
