27th Aug ’12 Roswell, New Mexico

Roswell is much larger than I expected, as we have arrived late yesterday we haven’t looked around properly yet, saving that for today, but we did pass McDonalds and Looci, it no longer looks like a space ship! I’m gutted!! They have built a kids play area onto it, how dare they?!! But the lamp posts all have alien heads so that’s good and Arby’s welcomes aliens!

So it’s another blistering hot day in New Mexico so I don’t think my tin foil alien hat will see much action unless I want my brains well cooked, so it’s a good job I got a photo last night while I was outside watching the skies!

Main Street seems to be where all the UFO shops and action is (the rest of the town is relatively ordinary) so we headed there making our first stop at the Visitor Centre. Here a really nice man gave us a town map and marked the main places of interest. I was slightly disappointed that there were only 2 UFO related places – the International UFO Museum and Research Center and out by the airport the hangar in

which the alien bodies were kept. In fact apart from a couple of museums there are very few things to see in the town itself.

We had a look at the few exhibits in the Visitor Centre and as the man told me to make sure I had my photo taken with the aliens I did. He soon got up and came to have a look when I donned my alien hat, but showed me how to make Mr. Spock’s hand signal and we had a good laugh. I am obviously not of Vulcan extraction however as I just could not do it right!

Then it was on to the International UFO Museum and Research Center and I guess the first thing I should say is…. I Believe! I always have and now I am even more convinced! It was an AMAZING place. I had read some reviews about it which said it was boring and there was too much to read and all I can say is PAH! It was brilliant!! Yes there were lots of things to read and rightly so, they were presenting the history of what happened back in 1947 and I found all

the articles and sworn testimonies from people involved to be fascinating. There can be no doubt that a space ship did crash, aliens were taken from the wreckage and the US Government covered it all up! The people who saw the wreckage, got glimpses of the bodies or who were in anyway involved were threatened and intimidated, told if they spoke about it then they and their families would be killed. They were in no doubt this was a very real threat and many only spoke about it on their death beds. Anyway I could go on about this forever, so I won’t you will be pleased to hear, but if you are in the area go and visit this wonderful place!

There were interesting exhibits about close encounters, crop circles, ancient visits by aliens and much much more. There were also items used within films about Roswell and posters signed by actors and a great little gift shop where I purchased a few items!

After 2 hours Howard was restless, I could have stayed longer and there were films showing all day long but I didn’t push my luck! So we left and walked a few blocks taking photos of the various alien things in shop windows and the Alien Coke machine!

We had a good drive around the old historic area and saw some lovely houses but unfortunately by the time we tracked down one of the museums it was about to shut! So it was back to the motel to cool off.

It was well worth coming here if only for the International UFO museum and I now know what to do if i see a UFO or have a close encounter. Also special mention to the alien head lamp posts, they are great!

At this moment i can't sum it all up, there have been so many amazing experiences, sights and encounters along the way, i think i need to stop to let it all sink in. However I was so looking forward to getting hom... full info
