On the drive from Frisco to Albuquerque, the landscape changed dramatically from scrubby ranchland to high plains with buttes and mesas before passing through the Sandia Mountains. We gained over a mile in elevation along the way. We stopped for authentic Texas barbecue at K. Bryant Barbecue in tiny Childress, TX. The restaurant is housed in an old hardware store and the brisket and pulled pork were delicious! We got to talk with the owner and sign the pillar after our meal.
