Rain, rain go away!!! This was a day of rain, rain, Rain!! It started raining when I went outside to start loading the car….It never stopped!!!
Today was a travel day from Freeport, Maine to North Conway, New Hampshire. This is the cabin Terry pick out because of the fishing stream in the backyard. It wasn’t a long trip (only about 2 hours) but it was going to rain all the way there. On top of that, because of his injury, Terry wasn’t going to be able to fish!!
When we left our barn apartment, we drove into Freeport. I noticed a McDonalds there that was in a house and I wanted to check it out. Of course it was raining. I got a few pictures but didn’t go inside. It was a neat place and had some tables and chairs in little alcoves and window areas.
We drove on toward North Conway. Besides fishing one reason we were going back is to visit Mt. Washington. When we were there last year you couldn’t go up because the weather was bad and there was no visibility.
We kept hoping to see a moose! We have never seen
a mouse on either trip we’ve taken to the New England states. We’ve seen lots of warning signs but no moose!!
When we arrived at North Conway we decided to get a late lunch as it was raining and we had some time to kill before we could check in to our cabin we usually try not to eat at chain restaurants because we can do that back home. We found one that was a chain but not one we’d ever seen. It was called 99 Restaurants. The name 99 given because the first one opened on 99 State Street, Boston, Mass.
It was chilly and rainy so everyone had soup and sandwich. I got the special which was a cheeseburger, since it was national cheeseburger day. The food was good. The interior idea reminded me of an Elbys.
When we left, we headed to Wal Mart. I’m not a Wal Mart lover but sometimes they have what you need. We thought, since it was raining, we’d get whatever groceries we needed before checking in to our Saco River home. We do a lot of cooking when we travel. It saves money land we get burned out
when we eat out all the time.
Did I mention it was raining???? It was RAINING!!! Y the time we got to our cabin it was REALLY raining! We had to unload everything in te pouring down rain.
Using an umbrella was very little help! Especially silly when the house had no gutters so when you walked up the steps to the deck the rain poured off the roof and just soaked through the umbrella. We were soaked!! Fortunately we had a dryer and I could dry my jacket!
We were finally in for the night and it continued to rain all night long. The guys went downstairs and watched westerns while Karen and I watched several episodes of Virgin River. AND IT RAINED!! I wondered if Noah was going to float by in the ark!!
Hopefully tomorrow will be a less rainy day!!
