The rest of my weekend was quite marvelous as well, although it was really Friday that made the whole weekend utterly spectacular. Saturday I slept in, as we were out late. When I awoke, it was to weather that made me question where I was. It was only in the low 80s, with 41% humidity, and dark rain clouds! Shocking. We decided we should take the opportunity to enjoy nature, and around 2pm all us interns went out to Red Rocks Canyon, which is on the other side of Vegas. It was quite a lovely day. The gift shop was pretty neat, even if it was in a trailer. haha. It was raining (say what?!?!) by the time we got out there but we didn't let it deter us. I couldn't believe I was outside, in Nevada, in August, wearing pants and a rain jacket, feeling slightly chilly at times. It was craziness! We walked around some really cool rocks, and even saw some frogs! Got some really awesome views. At one point where we stopped to enjoy the cool weather and view, I was looking at the graffiti on the rocks, and saw that someone had written in Greek! How
more of Red Rocks
look at all those trees!! cool is that?! I was super stoked, because I could read some of it (and by some I mean, like 2 words. but still! I took a picture so I can try to look it all up later. hehe. I'm a huge dork)! Yay for my Greek New Testament class. Preparing me for the day I find Greek graffiti on some rocks out in Nevada. lol.
From there we drove a bit more through the park and then stopped once again to hike a bit. By then the rain had stopped and it was just cloudy. Still insanely cool temperatures. And TREES! lots of them! even pine trees! It was like we had entered an alternate universe. hehe. Very neat. And a nice change of pace. Stopped one more place to look at petroglyphs (which turned out to be very unexciting... especially compared to what is in Gold Butte) and then it was near time for park closing so we headed out. On the way back, stopped for some groceries and then cooked a very late dinner.
Sunday I woke up surprisingly early. Had a somewhat productive day. I wrote quite a few postcards, finally. So to all
you out there waiting, hopefully they'll be coming soon! =) I also did some other productive things, like laundry and catching up with my seester. It was odd doing laundry and not having my clothes dry instantly upon being outside. The weather was still surprisingly cool and cloudy. Also finished the book I was reading, and watched a documentary with Gloria on the making of LOVE. It was quite fun to watch. I may end up buying it. Perhaps. Will think on it. Definitely gonna get the soundtrack from the show though. Gotta love Amazon sellers and the fact that they sell stuff for much cheaper. =) At night, Claire came over and we watched Sweeny Todd. =) It was lovely to see it again.
And thus my marvelous weekend came to an end. Without a doubt one of my best weekends here so far.
