We are still walking up really early every morning so it was no effort to be at the Silver City meeting room this morning for our welcome breakfast and talk at just after 7.30am. Unfortunately the hotel thought it was a 8am start but when the food did arrive it was delicious. Our table was a mixture of newbies like us and old hands, one couple having already done New Zealand, Canada and Italy with the club. After a short talk by Martin the tour leader, we were free to go our own way until tomorrow at 9.30am when we will be taken to pick up the motorhome. We had a little mishap then as we went to catch the free shuttle bus from the hotel to Fremont Street, the original Las Vegas, but ended up on the bus going to the strip! So after an other look at a few more hotels we decided to get a
service bus to Fremont Street. This is probably better seen at night when millions of neon nights are lit but it was quite lively with lots of street entertainment. We found a bar with a view of the street and had a beer and hot dog and people watched. There was a long zip wire and zoom wire in the roof over the street and it proved to be very popular. It was 20 dollars to zip (verictical position) 40 to zoom (horizontal position over a longer distance). We then returned on the bus to the strip to see the fountain show at the Bellagio, which did actually take place this time. Then back on the shuttle bus to the hotel where we had the recommended hotel buffet for dinner. Very good but we ate too many sweets - tried to convince ourselves that sugar free ones were somehow OK!
The hotel has an internal large garden area with a huge rock face and fountain and has a show 4 times a day so we went to the 8pm one. Very impressive with water shooting up from the lake, laser and lighting effects on the rock face accompanied by music and ending with a stirring rendition of a song about being proud to be an american.
Tomorrow is motorhome day - we can't wait!!!
