The day started with good news. Luke’s nosebleeding is finally over.
In the morning we drove to the Las Vegas Outlet Centre (my 3rd visit in 3 days). We were on a serious shopping mission today.
Kerry bought a nice warm winter jacket reduced from $100-00 to $30-00 and she also bought 2 necklaces and some earrings. Elise bought a Guess handbag for $35.00 and also some trackpants and a sloppy joe. Luke bought some cool Nike shoes with a hint of green, and I picked up a different pair and we only paid $50-00 each. Both Luke and I got 2 T-shirts from Nike ($40-00 in total). Luke got 3 T-Shirts from Billabong for $30-00.
Time went fast and we needed to get over to Mandalay Bay to get the tickets for the Lion King Show from the Box Office. This place is massive and we had a bit of trouble trying to find the box office area. At least we got a good look around the place (I’m sure these casinos are designed in such a way that you cannot find your way out so you spend all your money !).
Got the tickets and
had time for lunch in one of the many restaurants. Kerry had some potato skins with bacon and sour cream (yummy !) and I had some soup and a couple of Kerry’s leftovers.
Left the girls here to see the show and Luke & I had a couple of ours to kill. What to do now ? How about some shopping !
So we drove back to the Las Vegas Outlet Centre again for trip # 4 (no I’m not being paid endorsements it’s just a fact that this place has so many shops and unbelievable bargains).
This time I shopped at Adidas to get some T-Shirts for $10-00 each, Luke bought a cool watch for only $20-00 (down from $80-00) and I finished at Tommy Hilfigers where I bought 4 polo shirts for $20-00 each.
We drove back to the Grand Chateau to drop off our shopping and then went to pick the girls up from Lion King. The show went went for a little over 2 hours and they said it was well done and the costumes were unreal. They had excellent seats only about 10 rows from the front.
We decided to
go to the Sahara Hotel for dinner to go to a restaurant we had heard about called the Nascar Cafe. It has a bar with a race car hanging above it, and has Kart racing and some rides etc. Supposedly one of the great American themed restaurants. This is located right at the far northern end of the strip near the Stratosphere and was a bit of a let down. Pretty dated now menu not great and Karts were not working. Highlight was watching these two guys take on the Burrito challenge. They had to eat a massive burrito which was about 4 inches wide, 3 inches tall and and by my guess about a foot long. Some guy had a world record on it of 6 minutes to finish and only 25 had ever finished it.
One guy did pretty well and got two thirds done in about 45 minutes. The other guy was a joke and only got through a quarter before he gave up !
Drove back to the Paris Hotel to drop of our Nissan Xterra and walked back through the Paris Hotel. This place is unbelievable you feel like you are walking outside
in a French neighbourhood with shops and bars but you are actually inside a Hotel. Even the Casino area had a night time sky on the ceiling which made it look like it was outside. Did not go for a ride on the Eiffel Tower (half size replica) but it looks awesome at night.
Off to bed early as we have to get up super early tomorrow for our Grand Canyon adventure.
