Hummer 2 test drive
Ahhh. Just before I drive this thing around some crazy obstacle course. My first impression of this place is possibly the same as every other tourist who visits here for the first time. WOW. Vegas really turns itself on for the tourists. The strip is where all the big hotels are located dotted along each side of the boulevard. They are all vying with each other for who has the most glitzy and glamorous hotel and casino. To achieve this many of them have free shows, for example circus circus has free live circus performer shows every half an hour in its casino. Bellagio has a volcano in its water fountain, and the best one for us - the Mirage has a water show in its outdoor lake every 15 minutes.
The electricity bill in Vegas must be gigantic. There are neon lights for Africa. Everything has lights on it in Vegas.
The effect is to dazzle you, to make you feel good about being there, to impress you.
There are casino’s and slot machines everywhere also. You will even find slot machines in your typical dairy. It’s mind blowing. But that is only the initial reaction. I’ll come to what I really think of the place soon.
Well the hostel was really

Whats that instructor? I can't do handbrake's in this? nice. We had a private room and it was well decked out. In the morning we checked into dorms and headed out to the strip for the day. Tipped off by a guy at the hostel we headed down to a place where I spent the best $10 of my life.
The place was called test drive and you could test drive a range of different vehicles from Hummers to the new Chrysler V8 supercharged sedan.
For the $10 I got to do two test drives. So I chose to drive a Hummer H2 around an offroad course. I had to maneuver it around steep banked corners, up and down a hill with a %60 gradient then through some huge potholes. It was fairly intense stuff!!! Man I was sweating!
Next I jumped into a 2006 400HP Corvette and discovered to my glee that it had a manual transmission. So I got to do two laps around a small circuit with a standing start straight and a couple of chicanes. These american muscle cars ain't slow! After flooring it for a short sprint to the corner I had to pick my spine out of the seat and swing it quickly

Now this was fast! An underwear change was recommended afterwards. through the next corners. Very good fun.
After that it was back to reality and we cruised down the strip checking out some of the big hotels and casino’s along the way.
Your probably wanting to know how much I gambled and if I won anything by now. So the answer is nothing, zero, zilch. I did not gamble therefore I didn’t win. Why you ask? Well I have better things to spend my money on…..like spending $35 on going to the star trek museum, which I must say is very cool and incredibly geeky all at the same time! Haha!
The special attraction is two rides that you can do. One is a 4D interaction, which involves live actors, some interactive sets and a 3D show which is real cool and the chair pokes you in the back when you don’t expect it! The other ride is a pretty wild motion master ride which also involves real actors and walking through parts of the star trek set.
Unfortunately we ran out of time, it really is a whole day experience but we headed out to the strip again where it was now dark so all the lights were glowing
Test Drive circut
This is what the test drive arena looked like. brightly again.
There were white lions hanging out in the MGM hotel and as you walked down the strip, crystal clear music reached your ears from thousands of mounted speakers in the fence down a certain part of the strip.
It was a Friday night and the strip suddenly came alive with people. I saw no homeless people on the strip which was somewhat surprising.
However the dark side of Vegas was apparent. People were handing out smutty little cards left right and centre. Every 10 metres there were paper booths, but they did not contain the Las Vegas times, they contained pornographic magazines. It doesn’t take you long to realize why they call this place sin city. Really you can come here, indulge in all kinds of self destructible habits and feel good about doing it as everyone else around you is doing the same thing. Las Vegas masks reality well and I believe it would give you lack of worth for your money.
Certainly we enjoyed ourselves in Vegas as there is so much to do and see, but when we left the next day it was almost a huge relief at the same time.
