Today is Black Friday here so there are sales in most shops and lots and lots of people.
We have BOGOF voucher from MyVegas for breakfast at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. This is somewhere we have never been before but breakfast was truly outstanding. This was the first fried breakfast we have had this holiday. Not greasy at all though.
Today we have a ticket to use the Big Bus.
We got the tram to the Excalibur and then took a while to find where the bus pick up was. They are never at the front of the properties so it is not always obvious where they will stop.
The first stop was the South Las Vegas Sign. Although we have been to Vegas quite a few times, we have never been this far South.
We then stayed on the bus for the length of the strip. The commentator on the bus was very knowledgeable and it was great to learn about the history of some of the hotels along the journey. The traffic was getting heavier with all the shoppers now on the move.
We then went to the North Outlet
Mall and the traffic was so heavy the bus had to abort his entry and drop off people on the outside.
From there, we went onto Fremont Street, also known as Downtown Las Vegas, which is the original Las Vegas. We got off at the Golden Nugget, as a foreign couple had moved to sit behind us and were constantly screaming so we could not hear the commentator. This was a terrible experience.
Fremont Street is very different from what we remember having made a visit here many years ago.
We went to Slotzilla zip line and booked on for the 26
th. We are very much looking forward to this.
We walked down to the Container Park. This also was not here when we visited last time. It is a very quirky place. We purchased a bottle of Pepsi whilst we were there and it was the weirdest transaction. For the $4.99 sale the guy could not take cash. He would only take a card so we presented our credit card. Then he said he could not give a receipt, but that he could email it to us. This small transaction took about 15 minutes to
complete. It all turned out okay though ultimately.
As it was lunch time, we tried Coney Dogs for something small to eat. We did not want to have the same problem as yesterday and eat too much for lunch.
We then walked back to the Golden Nugget for the bus return journey and wish we had not. When we got there, we had just missed a bus and were told it would be about 30 minutes for the next bus. We should have walked away then but did not.
Once on the bus, the large amount of traffic was making progress slow. Added to that, as most of the drop-off points to the hotels are at the back, the bus was constantly going around in circles. It took us over 3 hours to do the 6 miles back to the hotel. During this time it had got dark and was now very cold too.
After the extended bus ride, we had a small rest back at the hotel, but could not summon up much energy. We decided instead to nip down to the Luxor Food Court for dinner tonight. This was not quite what we had
planned, but was good food.
