If ever there was a place to rest & recuperate after our 3+ weeks on the road, this is it!

Our good friend Janelle Sevier arranged for us to stay for a few days at the Sisters of Notre Dame beach house near Marshfield, just south of Boston, Massachusetts. The house is just 25 metres from the beach, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and we're spoilt by having loads of space to relax and spread out. After so much time sharing family rooms, Jackson & Katrina were delighted to not only have their own bed but their own room!

We didn't realise how exhausted we all were, so we've spent much of our time indoors, watching TV, doing jigsaw puzzles, catching up on journal writing & e-mails, and enjoying Janelle's company. But we have done runs & walks along the beach and explored the small community of Ocean Beach. On the 2nd day we celebrated Janelle's birthday.

Mike & Janelle visited New Plymouth, 20 minutes along the coast towards Cape Cod. We saw the replica of the Mayflower that brought the Pilgrim Fathers from the UK in 1620 and saw the 'Plymouth Rock' that they purportedly stepped ashore on to start their settlement (not as big as expected, though apparently it used to be 3x larger!). We also saw the monument to those that lost their lives in their first year (about 50% of the total) and wandered around the lovely graveyard on the hill about the town.

The next day, Mike & Katrina took the 'T' metro into Boston and toured the downtown streets, parks and historic wharves. A very pleasant city to walk around.

Now heading NW towards Vermont...
