$1500 Cape Cod Challenge: The Vacation is Over and Here's How We Did

Well, if you've read this far, you must be wondering if our family of five was able to do all that for under $1500. The truth is, I came in slightly overbudget but I was pretty darn close. The grand total worked out to be: $1556.04. Friday's splurges on food and unplanned attractions put me $56 over budget. But I guess the most important part is, I don't feel like we skimped on anything. We had a great time and I hope I've inspired others to get out there with their kids and travel. For those of you who are interested here is the final breakdown of what we spent and where we spent it:



Lodging: $600 Condo rental


Gas/tolls: $210.00

**A note about cheap souvenirs: Cuffy's of Cape Cod (www.cuffys.com) has high quality clothing items with Cape Cod logos at amazingly low prices! I was able to buy 12 t-shirts for $36...and there's no tax on clothing in MA!
