After waking up the family at 5:30 and filling up on some instant oatmeal, we took the shuttle to the Newark airport for our 8:30 Jet Blue flight to Boston. The plane ride was so much fun for the kids. They loved watching Sponge Bob and Dora on the plane with Jet Blue's in flight TV service. Plus what could be better than eating chocolate chip cookies at 9 am? However despite all this, Jason and I are still true Southwest fans. We were sitting in the plane and on the tarmac for 1 hour and in flight for only 45 minutes.
Stepping off the plane, we realized we weren't in Texas anymore. Just a couple days ago, we were worried about the kids getting sunburned. Not anymore, in fact buying winter clothes was top priority especially since Brecklyn's jacket was left behind at one of the hotels.
Our hotel claims to be the airport hotel. However it is located about 20 minutes from Boston and about 15 minutes from airport in the town of Revere. Luckily the hotel has been true to their word and have provided transportation to and from metro and airport. They even paid for
our taxi ride this evening because they weren't going to be able to pick us up within a certain time frame. The hotel is next to strip mall with a grocery store, Burlington, and several fast food restaurants.
After lunch at Taco Bell and a quick stop at Burlington for some warmer clothes, we grabbed the hotel shuttle and subway to the Freedom Trail in Boston. Some of the interesting sites we saw today along the Freedom Trail were the site of the Boston Massacre, Boston Commons, and the King's Chapel. After this we walked around Boston Commons and found The Tadpole Pond and Playground. After getting some of the kids energy out, we walked through Boston Public Garden. The tulips were so bright and the trees were in full bloom. It was spectacular and the most beautiful park I've ever seen inside a city. Of course at this point, the clouds cleared and it was a beautiful afternoon.
By this point, we decided to grab a early dinner at Boloco. The restaurant reminded me of a Chipolte with a modern twist. It had the same concept with burritos, except they had other varieties of burritos including Thai
or BBQ.
On the subway ride back to "Wonderland" (yes thats really its name lol and it is the farthest metro stop out of the city towards our hotel) Alex entertained our fellow subway riders by playing peekaboo and squealing "Choo Choo" at every passing subway train.
Then at the hotel, the kids listened to me read Longfellow's poem "Paul Revere's Ride" and then had fun galloping around room shouting "The British are coming". I feel sorry for the guests staying below us.
Its been a great trip and can't believe we only have one week remaining on our "Freedom Tour". We coined our trip this because of all the amazing locations we have visited learning about the United States and its road to freedom.

The hotel has an awful internet connection tonight and we are unable to get our big laptop to connect. Luckily I have 3G on my Chrome laptop. But we will have to add our pictures tomorrow if we can get a better connection in the morning.
